We had a great time and it was so wonderful that for Try Scuba they didn’t go to the pool but into the sea. The session has sparked a desire to do it again and again. It is expensive at approx £75 for 90mins but given the equipment and skill Involved it’s worth it. The only downside is that they only accept cash!!

Great diving center with a housereef and boatdives. Fine for just a couple of dives, good for courses or intro-dives. They know how to teach kids and adults in a personal way.

Subaquatic diving center is the best place to charge your batteries by doing what you like most- diving :)
What I like best is the positive attitude of the whole staff .... they are always available and are most interested you do the best thing you can ... is it by trying some new equipment, learning new skills while taking courses, or doing your first dive .... Here you are treated individually, with a lot of patience in order to discover as much you can and want.
I think it's the best place for those that would like to start the new experience of diving, to make new courses ('cause of it high standard and instructors teaching in your mother language, english, german, italian, slowenian, croatian ... I saw also a duch instructor in action :) ... or just enyoj diving every day ... as you plan your vacation!
I did wonderfull reef dives, night and wreck dives here .... and my diving education as well :)
If you need to charge your batteries, your are at the right place... as a diver or a diver to be :)

We went on a snorkelling trip, 2 adults and two kids (8 and 11 years old). The crew was very professional and helpful. All equipment (mask, snorkel, wetsuit, fins) were included in the price. The gear was top quality and we help finding the right size for everyone. The snorkel site was about 20 min out by boat, and as an extra bonus we spotted dolphins coming back.

I higly recommend this dive center, when I took my first steps in diving wo years ago, which encuraged me to go into that form of hobby, with currently 100 dives in different sites.
Last two wreck dives were well organized with very good support and helpful tips. Uderwater we were guided through most interresting part of the wreck.
Also my 12year old daughter did his discover scuba diving with joy and pleasure.

Hello, i did some diving with subaquatic in start of July 2016. There motto is, come as a guest, and say goodbye as a friend. I have to say, this is not empty words, indeed it felt like beeing part of it. I am an experienced dive instructor from Austria, used to diving in cold lakes, and did a lot of liveaboards and daytrips in Kuba, Egypt, Sudan, and many other places, and therefore know a lot of people from the dive industry, and i have to say that Damjan and Mateja (the couple who run the business) can be considered as very sympathic and professional. Upon coming there, we were warmly welcomed by a lot of the people involved (Katarina, Marco, Mateja, Mateja and Damjan), asked to sit down for water, cookies and tea/coffee to see what we can do. In the end, we booked three days of diving, involving a day boat trip to the slovenian/croatian border side, one afternoon trip to Sara (a tugboat from WWII) and a daxytrip to HMS Coriolanus, the major attraction in waters aroung Umag. we brought our own gear, so that we did only need tank and weights of the base, but looking at the other's customers rental equipment, i can say that eeverything looked well maintained and rather new, as well as well adapted to the specific customer's demand. Trips startet rather early in the morning (first day and coriolanus), which is due to the far track that has to be taken with the dive bases's boat, Flipper. Dive gear can be stored (also over night) in provided boxes, and the subaquatic people help to check if everything is fine and complete, so that nothing is missing on the boat then. As my old inflator hose of my regulator limped out after the first dive, they did not have any problem to help me out with repairing/exchanging it on boat (so they are well equipped for spare parts on boat as well). Diving is performed via Air in 12 / respectively 15 Liter steel tanks. As a courtesy, the tanks are taken together the 20 meters to the boat (distance from base to boat's pier), as well as the boxes. If everybody works together this is not a bit of a problem; Moreover, in this way it is guaranteed that everybody prequecks their equipment, which is - in my opinion - a very important part of having a pleasent dive day and diving safety. Tea/Coffee/Cookies/Fruits are provided both on land (prior and after departure and arrival), as well on board of the boat during whole trip. The boat, Flipper, is specially equipped for divers, having enough place for about up to ~15 divers, without being to full. Diving gear is well secured, and the boat's crew (Captain plus dive guides) take a lot about on board security and rules as well (no weight belts on benches, where they might fall down, hurting people, etc.). The trip to divesites takes between 1 and 2.5 hourse, depending where to go. Diving is performend twice (day trip) or once (afternoon trip). Briefing is performed comprehensively, focussing on both dive security and the dive site itself. It is performed via the help of pictures, sketches and oral explanation. Entry and exit of the boat is done via the rear (featuring a diving plattform).
The places we did dive were moderate in depth (first day) , respectively around 22 and 29 meters max depth (Sara / HMS C.), which already requires some look at nitrogen levels, especially in the last. For dive security, there is a line in case of wreckdives spanned, which can be used as orientation and holding line in case of the (moderate) currents that sometimes take place. Furthermore a 12 Liter Deko-Bottle for emergencies is hanging in 5 metres depth. diving is performed in small groups, which are regularlly accompanied by a guide (3-4 persons max per guide). This allows to easily discover the major sights at every divesite, which in our case where part of the wrecks (icluding damage, ship and armament, and hidden spaces inside / penetration openings), abondened old cars, Lobsters, different shells and fishes.
After the end of the diving, a "tauchmeister" shot is offered to warm up.
I was very satisfied with the dives and also the way people welcomed and treated us, as we really got friends during these few days, also staying in contact via social media - which is not too common in commercial diving tourism these days. Moreover, i liked the way the organised alos trips for special customers like families and kids. Especially Marco has to be mentioned, who twice was taking care for teenagers diving. He treated them in a very respectful, but also serious way, which i consider rather important (as especially HMS Coriolanus is not a "kids" dive). I really felt there was a lot of empathy to each customer, which i think is a sign of having fun in what people are doing.
Sure, the prices of diving in Croatia are not as cheap as they are in egypt, or Thailand, but this comes with the general price level of europe, the taxing for divesites in Croatia (HMS Coriolanus alone costs 8000€ or more for a 5 month dive licence during summer, which a dive shop needs to cover somehow), and the not too short distances to travel to divesites. However, one can say that for what you get the prices do not seem expensive, but qualitative argueable. I like more to pay money for getting quality, good and save diving, and well-aware staff, then to pay nuts and to endanger environment and myself.
The center and the people well earn a 5 star recommendation. If you go to Istria and want to dive, the Subaquatic people can be recommended without any concern. Go there as customer, come back as a friend.

If you're in the area and look for a dive Center, I can heartily recommend Subaquatic Dive Center. I went out with three different dive masters and all of them were fun to hang out with, competent and diligent. When I was there, the largest group consisted of 4 divers per dive master.
A trip to the HMS Coriolanus (boat ride and two dives) was especially memorable - if you have the chance, you should definitely do it.
The center is situated in a resort hotel, but open to everyone, and staffed by its own crew.

A friend and I recently completed a refresher course and dive with the team at the Subaquatic Dive Center and we were very impressed. The organisation was flawless, the equipment is great and our instructor (Francisco) was excellent (and super funny). Thank you!!! Hoping for a reunion in the Maldives....
