Great location with a massive linked ski area. Only problem is that many of the blue runs can be a little steep and tough when the snow softens in the afternoon. Queues at the funicular can take up to 30 minutes at peak times but they are building a new gondola for next season to relive the pressure.

We stayed at Ellmau for skiing. 1,5 restaurant, 1 coffee shop... That's all. Nothing special in the name of Apres ski.

Enjoyed a long weekend here. Lovely village with good choice of shops, bars and restaurants. Warm welcome everywhere we went and all were very tolerant of our basic German (in fact everyone speaks English really well!). Fun apres ski bars but not too noisy late at night (unlike Soll where we stayed last year). Easy to get around - good... More

What a lovely place! Only downside was that the pistes were a little short of snow in the early part of the week making it difficult to link resorts. Not their fault but a fault none the less.

Ellmau is a traditional alpine village, a good choice of shops, easy low levels walks available for those not skiing and a choice of lifts up to the mountain top restaurants.

This is the biggest interconnected skiresort I've ever seen. Some lifts are little bit older but everything is full function. There can be problem with snow. The resort is not so high and they have to use their snow canons so the quality of snow is middle. Sometimes good sometimes terrible. I like the resort because you can ski whole... More

Easy to find way around. Ample bars and places to eat. Mixture of sports shops, supermarkets. Spa and swimming facilities. Horse drawn carriages. On the downside some bars allow smoking.

A compact village with all that you need in reach. Enough activities for young families. People are friendly and helpful. Most speak English perfectly or at least adequately which is better than my lack of German proficiency. Village is also located near enough to the Munich airport which only requires a short transfer.

The good thing about Ellmau is that it is a traditional Austrian village that conveniently has beautiful scenery, a large mountain on its doorstep with a good funicular railway that takes you to the top.
