Great beach & play equipment for kids. An easy hike around the lake -- you get to walk across the earthen dam.! The restaurant is family-oriented w/ great food, prices and ice cream. Take your ice cream to the dock area to watch fish and Canadian geese saunter by.!

Legion Lake is a beautiful lake in Custer State Park. We parked there for a picnic; had fun walking a bit around the lake, and taking photos. There is a nice lodge here, boating opportunities, and one can see birds and other wild life. It is one of the more peaceful areas for lodging in the park.

We stopped off the road and decided to have dinner. How many places can you get a fried egg sandwich with cheese and ham on sourdough and a side of fruit? The Asian Salad was also delicious and made fresh. The menu does not say it has tomatoes and I am allergic, so the cook made another fresh salad for... More

We stayed at the legion lake resort. The cabins are small but functional with a microwave and refrigerator. The walk around the lake is very nice. We did not paddle boat but I can imagine that would be fun. Food at the restaurant was average at best.

We didn't plan stop at Legion Lake cause we only have 1.5 days to spend inside the park. We drove by and saw the ice-cream sign on the way to Pete Norbeck visitor center, we decided to stop by for an hour. We were amazed by the sight by this little lake. It has a little sand beach which draw... More

This lake is breathtaking. It is on the Needles drive. You won't be sorry. I wish we had more time to stay here.

We visited Legion Lake a few times during our stay at Custer State Park. We fished - no bites even though we could see fish swimming! :) The kids enjoyed swimming there - beach was nice. We enjoyed the restaurant also - had dinner on the deck overlooking the lake!

Nice little tourist stop for snacks or lunch. Nothing fancy. Gift shop, paddle boat rentals, cabins. Lake is heavily stocked with trout for fishing. Feed the ducks or geese. It does have a little beach area to hangout.

We camped here for 4 nights. Our campsite (2E) was very sunny with no shade trees. However, directly behind our site was a nice grassy area with lots of tall pine trees and a hill that was a good place for kids to play. This is a smaller campground with less than 30 sites. The bathhouse is in good condition... More
