Swimming here is a bit warmer than Sylvan Lake but the water is murkier and the swimming area is smaller. There is a playground just near the beach so little ones can take a break from swimming.

We stopped here after doing some hiking, and were on the way to the Wildlife Loop. The sandwiches were good, but the ordering process was horrible. They were having some computer issues, but all the prices were posted on the menu board on the wall. Somehow, the numbers just couldn't get keyed into the cash register by the staff. New... More

Clear lake. Rented kayaks. Great picnic spot. Clean and well cared for. Friendly shop owners. Clean bathroom facilities.

We stopped here for a picnic lunch on our way through Custer State Park. Gorgeous little lake. Quiet and very scenic. My children enjoyed feeding the ducks and geese some leftover bread off the dock. I will warn that the geese were a little aggressive and actually followed us (hissing at us) to our van after we were done. But... More

We really enjoyed our lunch here and a walk around part of the lake. The day was calm and the reflections were perfect for photos. Families were enjoying the beach area and the entire place looked quite serene. Not far from the Custer end of Needles Drive. Hint: order your lunch as a take out and enjoy it on the... More

Legion Lake is a beautiful little lake in Custer State Park. It is smaller and quieter than Sylvan Lake, which was very crowded when we passed by. We enjoyed swimming ( there is a sand beach) in the cool fresh water. It was not too cold in July - just refreshing. There is also a playground at the beach. We... More

This is a nice little lake with a short hiking trail around it. The beach is sandy. The kids loved it and it was one of their favorite activities on the trip. The water is chilly.

We stayed at the camp across the road 2 years ago and loved it. This lake is beautiful and not as busy as Sylvan. We came back this year, while staying at another campground, and had to visit this lake again. The lake alone is worth the stop. 2 yrs ago I loved that Starbucks was available across the street... Take a walk over the bridge at the end and up the hill to the side of the lake...easy for children. Others were swimming.

We had eaten here a few times on out trip. The best meal by far is the breakfast! The portions are very large and it was steaming hot! The staff does an ok job but they are mostly new to the park each summer. Give them a chance to get used to the crowds.
