My daughter and I went on a 1-hour trail ride. I have rode horses many times in my life but I have never been on an actual trail ride. This was not a laid-back trail ride like I was expecting, we went up and down steep rocky hills and went through a pretty deep creek (it was higher than normal... More

My wife and I, son (11) and daughter (9) did the 1-hour trail ride during our July 2014 SD vacation and had a really great time. We met our horses, got a little training on neck-rein riding, and hit the trail! The first surprise was the trail itself. This is not an easy stroll through the plains - we went... More

Our family of 4 took in a one hour ride and loved it. The staff definitely takes the responsibility of pairing each rider with the right horse. Our not-so-adventurous 9 year old was fine with the whole thing, no worries ever. A great family experience to see Custer State Park off the beaten path.

Our family of 3 did the horse ride as part of our Black Hills vacation. We are "green" at horse riding. My wife did this as a girl & wanted to do it together. We loved it! The scenery is beautiful. The horses did great and our 2 guides were friendly and took great care of us. We will do... More

We took a family vacation to the Black Hills area. One of the activities we chose was to go horseback riding. My family has very little experience with horses and my 8 year old had never been horseback riding. We were so pleased with our experience at the Blue Bell Stables. We had a great time including my 8 year... More

Prices are great. Trail scenery is beautiful. Our 1 hour ride ended up close to 2 hours, so bonus. The trail guides are wonderful. My daughter told them she was nervous so he rode next to her until she felt comfortable and then he checked on her throughout the ride. Horses all very well behaved.

These stables are very well run. The horses are all in great shape and you can tell that the people in charge care a lot about the horses. The trail ride was leisurely. There was a lot of rain so the creek was high and I was downgraded from the 2 hour ride to the 1 hour ride, but that... More

Our family took a trail ride this past week at Blue Bell Stables and it was a wonderful experience for both the adults and children. The adults can really appreciate the beautiful scenery and kids were thrilled with riding the horses. The horses appear to be well cared for, too. We especially LOVED our wranglers, Liz and Crystal. They were... More

It was expensive, but worth it! It ended up being a few dollars over 200 for our family of 5 to do a one hour trail ride. A 9 year old, 13 yr old, 18 yr old, and two adults. My 9 year old was a little apprehensive about riding a great big horse, but the guide calmed him down... More

Our family (2 adults, 15 yr old, 12 yr old, 9 yr old) had a GREAT time on the 1 hour ride. The stables required the 9 yr old to wear a helmet. We were scheduled to ride the 2 hour loop, but the creek was too high. Afterwards, the kids thought that the 1 hour loop was the perfect... More
