Black Hills Balloons has a capacity ranging from two to twelve passengers per balloon, and can accommodate nearly any size sightseeing party. Balloon flying is approximately a three-hour activity, consisting of the inflation and launch, the flight itself that is approximately one hour in the air, the pack up and the traditional champagne toast with return-to-base ride. Sunrise, when winds are calm and cool, is the only time of day flights are available. Weather permitting of course. « less

Great place for a balloon ride and to see the black hills from the air. Steve (our pilot) is a genuinely nice guy and has years of experience. He is safe and really knows his stuff. For anyone wanting to try a hot air balloon can highly recommend.

From beginning to end this was a great experience. The tour operators were on time and very professional and informative. Steve our pilot came with years of flying and was a great tour guide also. The mimosa and muffins at the end was a great final touch. Highly recommend to anyone want to try a hot air balloon ride.

A beautiful way to see the Black Hills of South Dakota. Exciting and very scenic. Could see Elk and Deer, Harney Peak and Crazy Horse Mountain.

This was a great way to see the beautiful Black Hills of Dakota. Tour operators were exactly on time, and the whole operation couldn't have been conducted more courteously and efficiently. Well worth the money for a totally different, unique experience. Thoroughly recommend.

My first ever experience in a hot air balloon - and enjoyed every second of it. Arrived at the launch site in time to see a beautiful sunrise, had beautiful views in every direction, peaceful and awesome sights, and the wind provided a long and breathtaking flight. Our pilot, Walter, was extremely capable especially for our "high speed" landing, which... More

What a great day / location for a balloon adventure. Albeit a bit expensive ($295 per person) for the length of the flight, the views and the flight were stunning. The weather and wind cooperated and the landing was as soft as down!! I would have enjoyed a "higher" ascension and a longer flight but for the first-timers in the... More

My wife booked this trip a week in advance for me, her, and three children. We were told to arrive at 5:30 a.m. across the street from our hotel. The tour operator called my wife's cell phone the night before to confirm the time (5:30 a.m.) and place (across the street from our hotel) for our meeting. The following morning... More

It was one of the coolest things we have ever done. It is so peaceful. I thought I might be affraid, but there is really nothing scary about it. Our Pilot "Walter", had a lot of great stories and made everyone feel comfortable. Don't miss it if you have a chance.

Fantastic time, the kids loved it! Our pilot Walter was straight out of central casting. A bit of adventure, amazing views and best of all a smooth landing!

We went with Black Hills Balloons earlier this summer and are very happy we did. We booked a few months in advance. They suggested we book the trip earlier in our vacation incase it needed to be cancelled due to weather we could reschedule. We called the night before to confirm and the weather was good so we met the... More
