As the Riverwalk stands now, it is not worth the effort to go shopping in it. They did announce plans to turn it into an outlet center. I will return and check it out then, but for now, don't waste your time shopping there. The food court still has a variety of options if you are at a conference next...

At least half of the stores are unoccupied and many of those that are seem to be going out of business.
While it is in a beautiful location, it is not worth your time. There are almost no shops open, a nearly deserted food court and what is there is strictly touristy. The only nice thing is the view of the river. Not worth your time.
This place is full of stores that I love (: My favorite place ever is the fudgery! The fudge is very good and the people are so funny! I aslo love seeing the cruise ships set sail!
Its a beautiful spot outside to sit and see the river, but the shops that are open are expensive and most of the mall is empty. Not worth the trip.
Having visited New Orleans for the past three years it is rather sad to see that the Riverwalk Marketplace is becoming more barren with each visit. Don't waste tour time. The majority of the shops are closed, the Palace is dark and sad. Onde cab driver fooled me and my friend to go there.
If you happen to stroll by, yeah it's kinda cool right by the Mississippi River, but the shops are like last minute airport gift shop crap, just a confused muddle with aspirations of upscale shopping with the reality of isolated location and convention center browsers. Life is too short to include this in your plans.
We walked down from French market, so the paved path right next to the river was very convenient. The path and benches are filled with homeless people and solicitors so be careful at night.
