Owner description: Originally built in 1927, the Saenger Theatre was designed to reflect a magnificent 15th century Italian courtyard and gardens, with a starlit evening sky ceiling, arched surroundings, statuary, columns and decorative moldings. In January 2012, the City of New Orleans, Canal Street Development Corporation (CSDC) and ACE Theatrical Group formed a public-private partnership to carry out a $52 million restoration project after the iconic theatre was severely damaged during Hurricane Katrina. The Saenger Theatre reopened in fall 2013, authentically restored to the finest level of detail, with state-of-the-art technological improvements and updated first-class amenities. The theatre hosts a wide variety of performing arts attractions including live theater, comedy shows and musical acts. The Saenger Theatre is located at the corner of Canal and North Rampart streets in downtown New Orleans and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

We saw Phantom of the Opera at this theater and it was wonderful. The theater is absolutely beautiful inside! If you sit in the balcony, prepare to wait in a long line for bathrooms at intermission.

Went to see Frankie Valli. The renovation covered every detail and the acoustics are great. Staff kept things organized as well.

The Saenger reopened recently and I've had the chance to see Chicago and Phantom of the Opera here. There's really not a bad seat in the house, even the back row on the balcony is fine, I'd imagine. I love the decor and especially the fiber optic stars in the ceiling. The acoustics are great, the lobby is just magnificent.... More

returned in Nov. after about 20 years and 2 remodels; however, the Sanger is an amazing place to see a show. Clean, beautifully decorated, filled with history and all of the seats are good. Located in downtown New Orleans, if you have the chance GO..

My partner and I went to a Melissa Etherdige concert here, and I can truly say, this theater is breathtaking- from the Architect- you will Loose yourself in the ceiling- the Saenger team members are amazingly warm and helpful- Melissa put on a fantastic show- throughly enjoyed the diversity of people. This theater is a must visit.

The newly renovated Saenger is better than ever. We have been to various Theatre venues all over the world and I would put the Saenger in the top 10!

The phantom of the opera was spectacular, I loved the show the performers did such an amazing job and the theater is beautiful! This was my first time to see the Phantom, my only complaint is I wish the sound could of been a bit louder it was a bit difficult to hear the performers at times. Other than that... More

We saw Phantom in this newly restored (post-Katrina) theatre. Magnificent. The theatre is done up in grand style and even though we were in the balcony, could see and hear everything happening on the stage. Really good venue. Though, my wife says they could use more bathrooms as the lines for the ladies rooms were VERY long.

This was my first time back in the Saenger Theatre since it's renovations. Everything was perfect. We attended Phantom of the Opera. Our seats were great, service great, stage settings were wonderful. I only wish the sound when the actors spoke would have been better. When they sang, it was very good.

We were excited about seeing the Phantom of the Opera. The theater was beautiful inside, however, when the Opera started we could NOT hear the actors on stage when they were talking. When they sang we could hear them but not understand what they were singing. It ruined the opera for us. We had been looking forward to seeing the... More
