We stopped in after the parade and were charged $5 cover. After squeezing in, there was no where to sit and barely anywhere to stand (shoulder to shoulder). But they kept letting people in. They could use a lot more room for all the hype. Very uncomfortable experience.

Small intimate area: good drinks and saw/listened 2 great jazz for hours. Everyone has a good seat and very friendly employees and customers.

My husband and i were in town for Mardis Gras. We had to see Davis and visit this amazing venue. So glad we did. I was in heaven. Thanks Spotted Cat and Davis. Bucket list tick.

Worth stopping by to listen to good music and enjoy a beer. Unfortunately, it is very small and gets super crowded.

This is a great spot to hear new music and enjoy local beers. Not for the faint of heart, but if you've got the feeling, this is the place to be. A truly NOLA music experience and place.

There was a great jazz band on the Saturday evening that we visited, I felt we’d traveled back in time to the glory days of jazz. Good drinks. Cash only. Only complaint was the bathrooms – only one each and there was always a line. Still, a must-visit in my opinion.

The Spotted Cat is a must visit. We go on every visit. Amazing talent and a step back to the early music of New Orleans. Bring cash as they don't take credit cards.

We searched for a music spot that would cry out New Orleans and found it on Frenchman Ave. There was a great contemporary jazz band playing with a 1930s influence. Highly recommended if you want to hear sone great music in a authentic New Orleans venue.

The music at this bar was absolutely amazing and they have people dancing. The interior could be a bit nicer and cleaner.

The band playing was great. The atmosphere was good. The only issue we had was that the place is very small and there weren't many places to sit. There were chairs at the bar of course and just a row of seats along one wall with only 2 very small bar height tables. Had we been able to sit and... More

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighborhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
