Great Music

A good variety of music. Good service, and drinks. Get there early, sit in the front, if you want to watch the band play. Gets crowed.

I've been going here for years when in New Orleans. Club has been cleaned up a lot but not yet 'gentrified'. Music is always great, many different genres, locals come here to jitterbug and the dancers are a show in themselves. On Frenchmen street. No cover charge but you must have a drink per set.

Here's what you should expect at the Spotted Cat: Awesome improvisational jazz. Cash only service. A grungy, dark room that casts a thick spell over a tight standing-room-only crowd. A modest cover charge if you arrive late. Smoking. This is definitely a casual place with an emphasis on drink, smoke and jazz. Don't come here looking for something "elegant" or... More

We went in here on a whim and it turned out to be a fantastic evening. We got to listen to Kristina Morales and the Bayou Shufflers and were really treated to some good jazz. The bar itself was smaller than other we had been into which created a great vibe. Well worth checking out.

We stopped in on a Sunday night. There was an assortment of musicians, just jamming. No recognizable songs...just incredible talent! We enjoyed great drinks as well....Hurricanes and Capt and Cokes. The bartender was very professional and knew what he was doing. The only downside was that it was very smokey. The venue itself is quite small. I lucked out and... More

This place felt like the classic "new orleans music spots" that I've seen on tv! The live band was awesome and my friends and I had a great time! The place is very small and you will most likely be standing. It was kind of crowded, but that lets you know that it's a good place to be ;-) When... More

Great venue for great music! I only wish the place was larger- we felt like standing sardines, hoping our feet didn't fall asleep! Get there early if you want a seat!

Everyone raves about this music club and I have no idea why. They charge a cover (expected), the place is cash only, and it's a dump. I'm find with little hole-in-the-wall venues if the music or atmosphere or crowd or anything is amazing. This was not. The music was not great and everyone was pushing. There was a black tarp... I was here Friday and Saturday night and no doubt I'll return tonight as well. The music is always on point and the musicians are always so talented. Friday night unfortunately I missed the name of the act but it was traditional jazz style music with one of the best trumpet and clarinet combos I've heard in a good while.... More

went here based on the recommendation of a friend and loved it. The bar is small so you may have to stand but it is certainly worth it. The group performing jazz were excellent and customers dancing were entertainment in themselves.
