In a run down building in the heart of Frenchmen Street sits the Spotted Cat. I went in there on my first night in New Orleans (been here many times), and Frenchmen street is where the locals go. We heard several sets from a very talented and funky brass band on a Saturday night. The place was packed, but in... More

On Frenchmen Street, it a little club but has some really good local jazz bands. One drink minimum but so crowded that you can't get to the bar. Relax and enjoy the sounds.

Get out of the French Quarter and off of Bourbon Street. The clubs along Frenchman Street are worth going to and you will hear some awesome music. On our last trip to New Orleans we were treated to a set by a group called Dr. Sick & The Late Greats. The entire club was alive with the energy generated by... More

Wandered by, and there was superb down dirty blues going on. Not so many people when I came, but it filled up quickly. Is this number one in New Orleans, I don't know - but you must visit !

Great local hole-in-the-wall with fantastic music, eclectic clientèle and a superb vibe. If you like to listen to awesome music in a very casual atmosphere this is the place to go. Only a brief walk or cab ride from the heart of the quarter.

Visited Frenchman Street on the recommendation of some locals. Spotted this bar and decided to visit only to get a laugh because building looked like it was about to collapse. Well the joke was on us. Great staff and awesome music. Great atmosphere. Might be best hangout in New Orleans.

I loved this place. Great atmosphere, reasonable prices and awesome music. It gets pretty packed so it's difficult to find a seat, but it is not difficult to get in if you arrive during one of the breaks.
