'Booked' this free walking tour of NOLA French Quarter and Cemetery before arriving, but probably wasn't really necessary (other than it helps Dave know he has people showing up !). Over the couple of hours walking the French Quarter, Dave kept us amused with loads of interesting facts and made sure we experienced a couple of interesting buskers ...(you will... More

Dave is very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of New Orleans. I really enjoyed taking his tour and wish I had done it on day one. He gave me all sorts of ideas of places that would be interesting to explore on my own later.

I'm so glad me friend and I stumbled upon this! The Nola tour guy, Dave was very informative and took us throughout the main parts of the French Quarter. It was a great way to get a good overview of the area so you could know what you want to come back and see without getting lost. The cemetery portion... More

Visited New Orleans with family and attended Dave's tour on a Saturday morning. Tour lasted a little over an hour and a half and stretched from the southeast side of the French quarter to the St Louis cemetery. The tour guide Dave was knowledgeable, friendly and added in some informative stories. I highly recommend this walking tour and suggest you... More

My boyfriend and I saw this tour advertised in the hostel we are staying in. I love taking a tour in every city I visit, and especially enjoyed this one. David told us a lot of history of the city, as well as suggestion on what to see and do, and was also sure to leave time to answer individual... More

Every city has lots of free walking tours and I try to always do it first when traveling to get my bearings of a city. A good tour is dependent on a good guide to keep it interest. I thought that David was good, but not great. He knew his history really well and didn't have a question he couldn't... More

I don't really know what I could have done better. I don't think I have ever had anyone describe me as "dry". Most people think I am warm, goofy and silly even. Have you considered that perhaps you we have different senses of humor or maybe you have very high expectations for walking tours? More

I don't have much to write that many of the good reviews haven't already said. I will say that other reviews that complain about his appearance are a little misplaced. To be honest, that was part of David's charm and quite representative of New Orleans anyway. It didn't have a negative or distracting effect on the tour. It's quite interesting... More

My boyfriend and I weren't really interested in a hyped-up tour of New Orleans since we had already done all the obligatory touristy things, but we had a number of questions about the city's history that we just couldn't really answer from googling things on Wikipedia. David fit the bill; He has a degree in history and he knows his... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
