1. The swamp tour - as we will only ever be here once, we decided to splash out on the more expensive "small boat tour" and were so pleased we did. The small boat can go into narrow bayous that the bigger boats can't navigate. The bayous were stunningly beautiful with tall cypress trees draped in Spanish moss, all reflected... More

I'll add my kudos to everyone else about Butch's City Tour. Lots and lots of info. Funny, professional and knowledgeable and never insulting to the people, the city or your intelligence. Lots of solid travel tips as well. Take this tour before anything else. Then you'll know where to go and what to do. Who's Joannie on a pony? You'll... More

I know that Cajun Encounters has gotten many great reviews. I am sure the great reviews are for their swamp tours. We did the city and cemetery tour. There were 7 of us and we all hated it. First, they shouldn't run tours during the French Quarter Festival as the streets are closed, hence, no French Quarter. Also, they don't tell... More

Butch the tour guide is a local born and bred. Great overview of New Orleans history and current day. Good tips on sights, what to do and where to eat. Good conversation. We followed up on the tips and were not disappointed. Highly recommend.

Being able to leave the city and go out to the swamps and bayou is an unforgettable experience. Unfortunately we saw wild boar instead of alligators, but that was because of unseasonably cold weather. Our skipper tried hard to find them. His commentary on the homes along the river, the trees and wildlife was appreciated. Our pick-up and drop-off were... More

My husband and I counted a swamp tour among one of our must-see things to do on our vacation. I did a lot of research and decided on Cajun Encounters based on the predominantly good reviews. It did not disappoint! The first contact I made was with Leigh, who I emailed with and spoke to during the booking process. Responses... More

We booked a plantation tour for monday leaving at 12pm and we were told to wait in front of Huck Finn's at exactly 12:00 and wait until 12:30 since they weren't sure were the pick up would start from. We stood directly in front of Huck Finn's from 11:45-12:30 and there was no one seen or heard. Nobody came asking... More

Hi Anna H, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Your situation sounds frustrating to say the least, and wasting any time while on vacation is a terrible thing to do. From what we've read, it seems like you guys made your reservation through a location serviced by an independent agent - someone outside of Cajun Encounters. This makes... More

Fantastic tour from start to finish. In between the facts and history were tidbits of info about where to go, what to do ... From the dialect to nicknames for statues. You absolutely will not be disappointed.

We waited for 45 minutes outside Huck Finn restaurant. There was no tour quide seen and no words about the plantation tour bus leaving. We were very dissapointed about this and decided to go to the visitor center to get our deposit back. The customer service agent made a call and according to her the tour guid called our names... Hi JH1221, Thank you for your review. It looks as though you have a very similar story to Anna H. here on Tripadvisor, who booked through an outside party as well. We are reaching out to this vendor to get to the bottom of what happened and will contact you guys as soon as we have word. More

We booked a tour with a hotel pick up at 1.15pm. We were ready and waiting outside the hotel at 1.10pm. The hotel doorman said that a Cajun Encounters bus had been and gone, so we called Cajun Encouters to check. They said don't worry, the pick up window is 1.15pm to 1.45pm, they're on their way. At 2pm, there... More
