This was the best of 3 tours we did. Grey is a brilliant tour guide with a combination of enthusiasm and historical insight that made the tour memorable and highly interesting. With another tour we did the tour guide mixed in a load of fairly lame humour that we found quite tedious. On this tour however Grey held our attention... More

finally a tour worth getting out of bed for. we had Grey as a tour guide and she clearly knows her stuff. she was articulate, precise, knowledgeable and didn't feel the need to crack a joke after every sentence to keep our attention. the tour seemed effortless and face a lot of insight about the garden quarter of New Orleans.... We had Grey Sweeney Perkins for our tour guide. She did an excellent good! She is not a New Orleans native but has spent enough time there and has done her homework, that she is very knowledgeable of the city and it's history. She took us at a pace that was enjoyable for all and put in enough breaks so... More

On a cold but sunny Sunday, Gray led the four of us on a three hour walking tour of New Orleans. If you learn one thing about New Orleans, it's the influence the Spanish had on the city. (Gray surmises that the French quarter might properly be named the Spanish Quarter). This is a history and architecture focused tour and... More

Grey was our fantastic tour guide through The French Quarter. It was fantastic, with a lot of history, architecture, and "strange true facts". If you are into history or especially architecture this tour is a must...ask for Grey, she was great.

The most spectacular history tour throughout the French Quarter. Thanks goes to Grey Sweeney Perkins. We highly recommend a tour with Grey when you are in New Orleans. Fantastic insight with impactful stories on the history of "The Big Easy."

Jeffrey is a very good story teller. He is an enjoyable historian. He involves the tour goers with the stories. He made himself available after the tour was over to talk about other topics such as the time Lee Oswald lived in New Orleans and the places involved with the Kennedy assassination. He was humorous which always helps with a... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
