Good local music

We've been here 3 times. We've seen John Boutté, John Cleary, and a brass band. All of the music has been great. The drink selection is good too, but come for the great music.

Funky Frenchmen St. club, got there early, no cover but one drink minimum. Got to stand right up close to the stage to listen to the excellent music. Two sections with the stage at the end of one room. Benches against the wall, but few tables in the other room, so prepare to do most of the night standing.

Went to see the Treme Brass band. Excellent music and vibe about the place. One side of the bar is paid access. Friendly efficient staff. Great selection of beers and even better music. Must visit.

Saw John Boutee there and could hear a pin drop as this soft spoken, yet stage-commanding singer performed Hallelujah. Able to enjoy due to one side being a bar and the other side being for music. Also, the air was smoke free. Lots of standing and narrow, so if the band is important to you, get there before the set.... More

Went with some friends to see a great jazz band. We really enjoyed the music, but to even whisper to each other got looks and a few comments. One side of the place has a jazz stage, the other is separated by a curtain and is a good bar. But the bar side is extremely loud, so I really cannot... More

Because Bourbon gets old quickly , Frenchmen st is great for live music . We particularly enjoy DBA and its extensive beer list. Good prices too. For those in the know

This is where all the locals told us to go to see some of the best music in the French Quarter. They were not wrong, it was fantastic. The bar staff were a little "too cool for school" and not as friendly as some of the other venues in the area.

We wandered into dba early one evening and were initially attracted by their excellent slate of beers. Try Canebreak for something local and good. Found out that Walter 'Wolfman' Washington and his band were playing later for a $5 cover. We went off to eat and returned to see The Wolfman in full flow. An excellent night!

If you want to get a feel of the NOLA jazz scene, this is the bar to do it in. We went twice. Once with John Boutte and the second time with the Treme Brass Band. Entrance was $5-10 each. It was a little squashed with very limited seating but enjoyable all the same. They serve beer from all over... More

We headed to DBA as we wanted to see The Treme Brass band who play on Tuesday's. I loved loved loved the venue and the TBB did not disappoint. Indeed they were perfect. The venue itself is great, a huge selection of drinks - and good measures! A great venue, probably my favourite in Frenchman Street
