We walked by a few of the bars on Frenchmen street before entering DBA. The music sounded good (Swamp Donkeys), the place was not very crowded (it was early - around 8:00) and they said there was no cover charge till later. They have an extensive beer menu! From a variety of countries. We actually did not order any drinks,... More

Stopped in just last night. It was early, but the stools and rails all full. While waiting a few minutes to see if something would open up, and listen to the band (good) the bartender approached and tried to shame me because I had yet to order drinks (would have). "It's how we pay the band," he said. Oh really?... More

We went here to see Glen David Andrews band while on Frenchman St. Great band and show! We had a ball! Cover charge was low not very crowded on a Monday night. The ONLY complaint I have of this venue was the service. It seemed I waited forever to be served and the bartenders would go around me. I am... More

Went there Monday night halfway through the set of Glen David Andrews who had the crowd in palm of his hands. Did variety of songs, did a mix of some old classics with a modern twist. Worked the crowd beautifully. Great venue and fantastic artist.

got in here quite late on (about 10:30 or 11ish) so there was no cover charge to get in yaaaaaay 😊 It's a good size venue divided in two; to the right a cozy bar and to the left you'll find the concert area with a long bar; a good few seats, tables and stools along the walls for perching... More

I think the "d.b." stands for douche bags - not sure what the "a." stands for I was here a number of years ago and thought it was a great place - not this time. We were totally turned off by the clientele - hipster crowd - affected (that's what the "a." stands for...) They have a nice set up... More

I don't understand visitors who complain about the musicians who perform; these people should do some research about the artists who perform there before going. This is one of my favorite performance spaces because both the performance area and seating are more spacious than other Frenchman Street music clubs. For the last few years, I've enjoyed Jon Cleary playing either... More

This was my 3rd visit to dba, and found that the musicians on the 2 nights after Mardi Gras were mildly interesting. With so many options on Frenchmen Street, it was disappointing that they were charging a $5 cover one night and had acts that seemed lower in quality than the rest we visited along Frenchmen. The vast selection of... More

We came here to see the Treme brassband in their main venue. The band was great and had a visible good time. Not that busy when we came in, but you saw the room fill up slowly. Place has less character than say the Spotted Cat across the street as it has a more modern look. It's a good thing... More

Saw a great band at d.b.a. on Mardi Gras. The crowd was enthusiastic and well behaved considering the amount of booze being consumed everywhere that day. The bartenders are wonderful and did a great job keeping up with orders. If you have not been this place is what I would call a dive with a VERY basic interior. With that... More
