Nice ambience and short enough walk from our hotels on canal street. The drinks are eclectic and diverse..from cocktails to non Alcoholic stuff. The jazz is great but would try to reserve a seat..the wait staff is fantastic.

A wonderful place to sit back and listen to jazz. Very different styles the 2 nights we were there. Superb service - the host moved some chairs so we could have 2 together the first night we went. Expect to pay around $10 for drinks and to drink (at least) one per set.

...there is a one-drink minimum. If you want to call in advance and reserve a seat, good luck. We tried several times during afternoon hours with no success. Try after 7:30pm.

This is a wonderful and very classy intimate setting for some of the best soft jazz music we found. And, the appetizers you can order with your meal are WONDERFUL. The chef supervisor, Randy, makes the best BBQ shrimp that one could ever taste; you can't stop wanting more!!!

We celebrated New Year's Eve in the lounge of the Royal Sonesta hotel on Royal St in the Quarter. Irvin Mayfield and his ensemble are terrific. They started out at about 9PM with some rather usual nice jazz which they evolved into ever more brilliant playing, never taking breaks. The energy they put into their performance was fabulous. I had... More

We were in New Orleans for Christmas and planned to see the free show that evening. We arrived 7:20 and were disappointed to learn that all of the seats had been filled since 6:30! The hostess was great though. She told us that she would try to get us in after the first set was over, since she figured people... More

This is an up-scale club (much different from the clubs on Frenchman street) with comfortable seating, great wait staff, good food, and good music. Certainly the best Bourbon Street has to offer.

Irvin Mayfield is probably my favorite current day jazz musician so I made a point to go see one of his clubs during my visit. We went to the Jazz Playhouse and the room was wonderful, the staff was very sweet and personable, and the music was so awesome. There are also a lot of non-alcoholic drinks on the menu... More

Mayfield's Playhouse brings a touch of class and much needed "real Jazz" to Bourbon St. Nice club with no cover but expensive drinks. Worth it. Check out their impressive line-up of world class New Orleans jazz talent. Now competes with Snug Harbor for best jazz club. The Playhouse is far more formal and upscale. A bit stiff at times being... More
