We spent a fascinating hour in Jamie's gallery enjoying his whimsical and enchanting art, embarking on a colourful journey with him in English and German. Author, illustrator, and creator of "Up in The Air", a children's book about playful characters travelling in an airship, the Zeppelin, Jamie engaged us in an enlightening conversation about one of his favourite subjects. We have two prints from Jamie Hayes including the Chili Pepper Kitty and the Smoking Club. He has so many great visions to choose from, all fabulous and original. We also bought t-shirts of the dressed alligator New Orleans Po-Boy. Classics!

I highly recommend a stop at the Jamie Hayes Gallery as you walk around the French Quarter. The vibrancy of his work is best seen in person and if the art doesn't make you smile, your heart is cold and closed! 😉 Seriously, choose some Jamie Hayes artwork to take home with you, rather than another Saints T-shirt or giant... Jamie Hayes gallery is a fun place. I love his art. I was a bit disappointed with the t-shirts for ladies. Not much to select from and sized varied widely depending on the manufacturer.

This is a great spot to browse for unique LOLA-themed souvenirs with lots of colorful, quirky and original prints and posters on display. 'Gallery' might overstate its status; really, it is a shop, though a slick, upmarket one. They also do other products, too, including voodoo dolls and T-shirts. Plenty of eye-catching stuff to impress the folks back home.

Although we didn't make any purchases here, I thought the art work displayed was very colorful, unique, and beautiful. Worth stopping in to check out the display!

really cute shop with all kinds of fun stuff. It's that typical new orleans zany style but there are some real steals there too. Check it out if you are looking for

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
