The hurricanes here are fabulous! We've been to New Orleans many times over many years but just recenlty discovered Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop (due to TA reports). Its hurricanes are far superior to Pat O'Brien's (and we've always liked theirs!). And the ambience is a step way back in time. more

Lafittes Blacksmith Shop and Bar is a really cool place towards the end of Bourbon st. I went during Mardi Gras, so it was pretty packed and they had the jukebox blaring. This bar is the oldest bar in the USA. It is small, dark (and very cold when i was there) but it has more atmosphere then any other bar i've been in.
