I was so close to giving this night a miss because I read it gets too crowded and gets too tourist heavy. But my hotel concierge strongly recommended it. Good job I went. I had a blast. Yep it's crowed. It's club/joint, it's mean't to be that way. Yep, there were a load of tourists, but I'm from England so... More

How could I forget this diamond in the rough, Vaughan's. My family and I saw Kermit on the Food Network Channel talking about his famous Red Beans and Rice, Ribs, and of course his music. This is a MUST SEE, MUST DO on your first night in NOLA. We arrived on Thursday and Kermit and BBQ Swingers were there. The... More

We went on Thursday but Kermit wasn't playing. It didnt matter the guys that were playing were fantastic. get a cab its out of the way - will only cost $10. We got there about 8pm and it was still quite quiet. The locals immediately pulled up 2 bar stools for my husband and i and we were instantly welcomed... More

We loved the place. HBO gave it exposure via Treme, and there may have been some more tourists there than in the past, including us, but we loved every minute of it. You could feel the sense of locals forgetting about their troubles, and enjoying their Thursday night in the Bywater area. People say the music may be better on... More

We heard about Vaughn's and Kermit Ruffins' performances on Thursday nights and decided this was something we had to do on our trip to New Orleans last week. The place is awesome -- definitely a hole-in-the-wall spot in a non-touristy neighborhood. We had a great time -- the vibe of the place was cool, Kermit and the band were amazing.... More

Vaughan's used to be our favorite spot in New Orleans...for over 10 years we've been going a couple times a year, always on Thursday to dance it up to Kermit's music. Unfortunately, we will probably not go back to Vaughan's for a couple years thanks to HBO's "Treme". I'm happy that the the bar, the neighborhood and Kermit are getting... More

We went to Vaughn's on Thursday night like several recommended and weren't that impressed. The atmosphere was that of just about any bar in the New Orleans area, but a $10 cab ride away. The music started at 9:30pm and was nothing special in my opinion. If you're looking for authentic jazz, I would recommend Preservation Hall, Jackson Square, or... More

Excellent bar off the beaten path. Any day is a good day to have some fun at Vaughan's Lounge, but should you pick a day, let it be a Thursday, where Kermit Ruffins plays with his band, and boy is he good with that trumpet. Don't let the looks of the neighborhood keep you from visiting this gem of the... More
