This place is everything a club in NOLA should be. A cab ride from downtown but 100% worth it. Great people, cheap beer, fantastic music. I would definitely recommend a cab ride to get to Vaughn's, but if you start from Frenchmen St., it'll be under $10. Took a taxi out to Vaughan's on Thursday July 16th to hear Kermit Ruffins. Great hole in the wall packed with people of all ages. Very welcoming and drinks are so damn cheap. I saw this one guy go up to the bar and get 4 Buds and 2 bottles of white wine and it was $38.00. Can we say... more
Took a cab out to Vaughan's to see Kermit Ruffins on 05/28/09... A GREAT SHOW, best music we heard on our trip!!! A club meant for locals, but very warm inside... Lots of fellow travelers with a few locals mixed in... Take a cab for sure and the bar tender will call you one when you are ready to leave....... more
We caught a cab and headed deep in the Bywater to see Kermit Ruffins at Vaughan’s Lounge. This place is a house in a neighborhood that only has live music on Thursday’s. We got there about 12:30 AM and they had started serving free red beans and rice. Kermit played till 2 AM. Most of the audience were college kids... more
Didn't see this place in many books but it was great - sort of a "where the locals go". Be sure to check if Kermit Ruffins & his BBQ swingers are playing (Thursday nights). Have to take a cab out there (I think $10 if I remember correctly). more
