I took my wife and 2 daughters to see Charmain Neville last week Monday for dinner and the show. We had a blast. Food is good and the music was great. Charmain's a terrific singer with a superb band. She put on a fun show as well. Highly recommend. more

We tried the Spotted Cat across the street -- fun, but nothing special. At first we didn't think the Snug Harbor had live music, but when we asked it turned out that the music is in small lively room in the back. First rate jazz -- not dixieland tourist trap stuff -- the real thing. Highly, highly recommended! The cover... more

Snug Harbor is a great place to see local NOLA musicians. We saw the great Ellis Marsalis and his quartet Friday night, 10/17/08. His set was incredible in that he is a jazz legend and in that he features local talent in his quartet. The setting is very intimate and seats roughly 50 people. It has a Village Vanguard vibe... more

A co worker advised me to go here, and I'm glad I did! We ate dinner in the restaurant, then were early enough to grab a front row seat for the 8 p.m. show. The music was sublime, and the waitress showed up just when you needed a refresher. The only drawback was when we left I would have loved... more

We never go to New Orleans without going to Snug Harbor. A real part of the musical heritage with no pretense. I e-mailed them tonight for a February schedule--they will have some good people for Mardi Gras--and we, like our friends, love Ellis Marsalis. more

We inquired among a lot of different locals about where to hear some good local music, and Snug Harbor was the consensus. There are several other restaurants and music venues in the area, making a trip well worth it. (After leaving the Snug Harbor restaurant and jazz club and before calling a cab, we walked up and down Frenchmen and... more

The Old: a traditional New Orleans jazz venue in that the room is small and dim, the chairs are uncomfortable, and the view (except for a few prime seats, which we were lucky enough to get) is obstructed. The New: young musicians playing (on the night we were there) some rather avant garde style jazz. The group was unquestionably very... more

I thought it would a bit more classy than it was. It was actually a little hole in the wall resturant with an even holier (not in the religious sense) back room that was dressed up as a stage. The location was...welll...funky at best (not in the Rick James sense). The location seemed a bit off the beaten path, and... more

If you plan on visiting the French Quarter and would like to take in some jazz, you have to eat dinner at the Snug Harbor and then go upstairs for the show. This is not a dumpy little bar/restaurant. You would feel comfortable in jeans or in dressy clothing. Check out their website (www.snugjazz.com). We stayed at La Maison Marigny... more
