Great Dive bar with excellent music

Couldn't have found a better dive bar - all with uneven floorboards, smoke clouds, a fake alligator and cheap drinks - and above all - the Soul Rebels! The sound that was generated in those 4 walls were something truly out of this world. I wish we had something similar to that in the Southern Hemisphere, but it truly is... More

We saw the Soul Rebels - great fun band! I was worried about getting there too early (we went right after dinner). Got there about 9:45pm - the front room (main bar) had a few folks there. Good place for beers/cocktails/ pool. We went to the back room where the band would play - no one in there. Around 10:30... More

Soul Rebels was hype! $10 cover...grungy place and well suited for environment and the music makes up for it all. My friend saw a cockroach in the men's washroom but again the music makes up for it ahahahah

We love the city and this lovely resturant has NEVER failed to be right on target! Fabulous food, exceptional service, just not enough positive things to be said. It's rather small, however, that is how QUALITY is maintained. Mr. Pierce makes his rounds visiting with guests as well as his wife. TRUELY one of our top 2 places in New... More

Smoky Seedy Scene... The place was packed and with good reason The Soul Rebels rocked the place. Great bar scene that features 2 very active pool tables.Go ahead check it out.

Beware the excessive door policy! Ten days in NOLA with Soul Rebels high on our carefully prepared list of great music to listen to. Arrived 10.45 and was refused entry by the octogenarian on the door because I didn't have ID. Sure even he could see that I was far closer to his age than 21 but he couldn't be... More

We went to this widely recommended establishment on a Saturday night hoping to hear some live music. First of all we were travelling by street car, and we had to walk down Napoleon street which was not well lit, and hard to walk down. When we arrived at Le Bon Temps, we were told that we needed picture ID to... More

I decided to take the Saint Charles streetcar to Napoleon Avenue and walk to Magazine street. It was a very humid sultry evening and a very pleasant walk. I mention this because it felt very safe and if you are on a budget its the cheapest way to get to the bar if you are staying close to Canal Street.... More

They boast they are famous for their bloody mary's.... Well, they are, world famous. And if you do not fancy the drink, just go for the interior of the bar, as vintage and evergreen timeless as it gets. Atmosphere in abundance.

Came here with a local on a Sunday night during a recent vacation, and had my best experience of the trip. As Racheval3 noted, it seemed a little seedy at first--and given that I was an Asianish looking dude dressed in a sweater and tie, I was the picture of "sticking out like a sore thumb"--but after a few drinks,...
