In the French Quarter with live musicians, mimes, fortune tellers in front when there are no services, stands this stark whie church at the head of the Jackson Square. On either side sit the Presbytere and the Cabildo, both must-see museums. When there is no service, please walk inside this cathedral. Under the floor are the remains of past Cardinals.... More

I didn't spend too much time here but I did go into the main chapel to look around. The stained glass is gorgeous, as are the ceiling murals and other pieces of art. It's right off Jackson Square, between a couple of museums, so easy to visit.

You just can't pass this place by without taking a look inside. Be sure to look up. We attended mass here and it was rewarding experience.

You can stay all day and just watch the crowd and enjoy the music. We were lucky enough to catch the "Roots" a non profit sponsored marching band for at risk kids. Visit the Calibro a must for NYO history.

Beautiful cathedral. Unfortunately we couldn't go in last time we were in Jackson Square because there are now gates that are locked at times. I was told there was too much stealing, so they had to put in limited access.
