Lots of activities there all summer and in to the fall. The farmer's market is one of the best in the midwest with an amazing variety of produce and bakery. The smoked trout is also great and packed with a small amount of ice to get take it home. Each week brings new and interesting festivals, art shows and special... More

Lots of excellent restaurants and watering holes. Great views of the Capital building. Wonderful Farmer's Market on Saturdays from April through October.

Ok, it's a great place to be during the Farmer's Market in the summer or on the Wed. night Concert on the Square. The rest of the time it's just like any other big city with it's problems. We took the grandchildren to the Historical Museum and the Library. The one block walk between the two featured 35 homeless or... More

Ringed by delicious restaurant, the Capitol Square is a magnet for many visitors. It is fun to visit the state capitol. But the real draw for most are the activities that take place. The largest farmer's market in the Midwest takes place in growing season. And, during the height of the season, there are free classical music concerts. There are... More

The building is beautiful, and there is generally something fun going on outside such as a concert or an art fair. It's great for a nice walk at night, but wear a coat!

Kids enjoyed the free winterfest weekend activities like snow shoeing, cross country skiing, tubing, biking, and ice sculptures. Kids got olympic medals for trying activities. Great sponsorship lead to a fun weekend getaway. Recommend you check out next winter as we will return to do it again. Weather was too cold to do the 5k run for the kids but... More

This is one of the nicer state capitol buildings I have visited. The exterior is a classic style in the sense that it resembles the nation's capitol. But the architecture is not all there is to admire as the interior is quite lovely and features intricate stylistic nuances that are worth taking the time to appreciate. To do this, the... More

The best farmers' market in the country? You bet! The best concerts on the square? Absolutely! Great art fair? Definitely! Good food fest? Yes! Great place to hang out on a weekend or summer evening? Among the best!

The Farmers Market on Saturday mornings from April until November is a must. Tour the Capitol and stroll the four blocks around the building before heading down State Street. Lots of great shops and restaurants. And a couple fine museums. In summer one can enjoy free concerts on the square.

The weekend farmer's markets of Madison are among the most fantastic in the entire U.S. If you are going to be in Wisconsin over the weekend, this is a very memorable outing that you would be crazy to miss. Probably the single most impressive line up of gorgeous fruits and vegetables you can find, plus tons of local color and... More
