It gets crowded...sometimes, I walk in the street of the square..I wish it was closed to all traffic..both the inside and outside sidewalks on the Capital Square are filled with vendors, fruits, veggies, fried cheese, kettle corn and the beautiful flower arrangements for $10 or less.. if you can make it thru the crowds..it's so worth it..

A great area for walking and dining., The Capitol grounds are lovely and clearly are used by locals for relaxing after work.

Brought visiting family members to the Capitol and they really enjoyed the view from outside the rotunda walk way. The museum like displays along the 4th floor are also fascinating and held their interest. The guided walking tours are excellent and help you to access a few additional areas.

There is so much happening at any given time around the Captiol Square, especially during the summertime. At lunchtime you will find various Food Trucks, on Tuesdays from June through early August during lunch there is "Lunchtime Live" (http://www.downtownmadison.org/events/lunchtimelive), on Wednesday mornings there is a small Farmer's Market on MLK, Jr. Blvd., on Wednesday nights there is Concerts on the... Visit Square Saturdays Spring - mid-Fall for Farmers' Market. The entire large square is full of many vendors, food, home goods, interesting crafts. Plan to park several blocks away and walk. Stop into Capitol building when you're there. Walk down State St too.

The capitol is fine WI history and politics, but come Saturday morning it is also great Farmers market shopping. Fresh produce in season, that locals and UW students have been taking advantage of for decades.

Every angle of the capital is to beautiful. Sitting on the Capital lawn in the summer is very nice. We have also gone there for spring break and the snow on the grounds was just as nice. The kids had fun running around and playing in the snow. Lots of restaurants and museums around the square. Don't forget about the... More

It's an awesome place to be in especially on a bright & Sunny day during spring time and under lights during cold evenings !! You can walk around and I can assure you will always find something special everyday !! There is a farmers market on Sundays, which you must visit as you can buy lot of local stuff!!

Great place bustling with people of different types during a summer evening in Madison downtown. Close to the lake and has quite a view of the State Capitol and the lake Mendota.
