Frank Lloyd Wright designed the building in 1936, but it did not get completed until 1997. There were many who opposed the location, and thought Wright's design too much for the location. The second world war stopped the funding, and it took 60 years of voting to get it built. It cantilevers over Monona Lake and has a huge area... More

This Frank Lloyd Wright-designed complex by Lake Monona in Madison is well worth a visit. It's best if you don't go on a day when there were four weddings on the premises, but this was a third visit and we just enjoyed the areas open to the public. The interior has many semi-circular features - from the curved walls and... More

This is an amazing building designed for the site. Well worth the stop to see Frank Lloyd Wright's influence on the City of Madison. Designed decades ago and built long after, it is a wonder of Madison. Great events and atmosphere. Go see it!

This is a beautiful building well adapted to meeting, convention and community use. Even if you are not attending a function here, it is well worth visiting the rooftop garden (also has a cafe) and the gift shop which has a collection of FLW themed gifts. Also be sure to take a look at the FLW photographs which line the... More

This is a must see. Not what you would expect from a Frank Lloyd Wright building. All circular and flowing. But according to the guide, he was about indirect lighting. This is on the lake and in front of the capital by a block. Be sure to see the roof gardens. even the bathrooms are beautiful.

This conference centre was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1938 but it did not get built until 1997. His former student, Tony Puttnam, oversaw the building as the on site architect. It is built over ninety feet of Lake Monona with huge rental spaces inside and a roof garden above. The curved design was was of Frank's later styles... More

I was in Madison for two days for a HUD training that took place at Monona Terrace. I had never been to this facility, but it was fantastic. The staff were everywhere (in a good way) taking care of the bathrooms, meeting rooms and common areas. Bordering on the beautiful Lake Monona, it made for a fantastic experience in Madison.

One of Frank Lloyd public buildings which is very popular for weddings and its location on the lake and proximity to the state capital. I took a few incredible pictures inside of the building. This is one of his later designs, so has some design elements which have a lunar or space race type design cues. If you like design,... More
