We had the chance to sing in the rotunda of the Wisconsin State Capitol, and thus had the opportunity to appreciate all of the decorative and historical touches. Offering a central space larger than usual in a state capital, Wisconsin's Capitol building struck us as unusually open and friendly to visitors.

We took a scheduled tour for my kids school. It was way more than I ever expected. The observation desk was even open, bonus!

Living in Madison for most of my life, I tend to take the fact that our state capitol is a place to visit. But, this summer, while entertaining out-of-town friends, I visited this beautiful stately building once again. This time, we took the tour and it was SO worthwhile. It lasted just long enough to keep your interest and pointed... More

A beautiful building to just walk around in (and around, if you're not there in the middle of winter)!

Since we had visited the Iowa State Capitol, we decided a trip to our own Capitol was in order. While the Iowa Capitol was surrounded by giant statues and beautiful courtyards, The Wisconsin Capitol was filled with protestors and surrounded by bars. When we finally did get inside, the dome was beautiful. However, we spent less than 30 minutes. Parking... More

Spent several hours touring the capitol building. Enjoyed the Honor Flight exhibit and learning the history of the 3 capitol buildings. View from observation level is marvelous. We toured Austin's capitol a few months back and can honestly say this one easily trumps it for sheer beauty.

It was nice to be able to walk around the building on our own and take it all in. What a beautiful place inside and out!

This is one of the must beautiful buildings from the outside yet the inside is underwhelming. The rotunda on the inside is very beautiful though yet the rest of the inside is very tight and the stone is pretty drab. The offices are also not so interesting yet if you're at the Capitol Square to see other museums, etc you... More

Tour was with a group of high school students. The tour guide was very knowledgable. The view from the observation deck is worth the climb up the narrow circular stairs. This was our twenty second visit to a state Capitol. It rates in the top ten so far. Don't miss it, however if you have a wheelchair or stroller you... More

I wandered throough the capitol on a gloomy misty day in Madison; there wasn't a lot going on except for a few school group tours. Still, it compares to some of the nicest capitols in the country!
