Every Saturday, the Monkey Business Institute creates THREE unique performances at the Glass Nickel Pizza East - 2916 Atwood Ave.

Voted 2013 and 2014's Best Comedy Group (GOLD) and 2013 Best Kids Entertainment (SILVER) by the readers of Madison Magazine, we craft spur-of-the-moment, seat-of-the-pants improvisational comedy by mixing audience suggestions, decades of improv experience and sheer moxie.

Our group features over twenty experienced and talented performers with backgrounds in stand-up comedy, acting, writing and music. Many of our members are also frequent guests of the Blame Society Films ensemble (Chad Vader, Beer & Board Games, Welcome to the Basement) We highly recommend buying your tickets online to guarantee your seats, as our venue sells out quickly. Any tickets remaining for our shows are sold to walk-up customers. All-Ages Show ($6, 5:30PM, Seating begins at 4:45PM) Grown-Up Show ($10, 8PM, Seating begins at 7:00PM) and our weekly 10:30pm show slot, which features a variety of rotating shows and special performances! Saw the 8PM adult show with our twenty-somethin year old children. Very entertaining and funny - spontaneous for sure. Audience participates with some ideas. Very small venue- 35 seats. No drink minimum, and prices were reasonable. Highly Recommended!

Wasn't sure what to expect but we were not disappointed! The atmosphere was good, food great, service great, and comedians excellent! We were told we could stay for free after the 8:00 pm show. We had already had a long day so we decided not to stay. Later we regretted that decision. Will go back next time we are in... More

We booked our tickets for the Grown Up Show in advance to try something new on our most recent trip to Madison. The Monkey Business Institute is in the basement of The Glass Nickel Pizza Company. We got there about a half hour before the show and had plenty of time to order food and drinks before the show. The... More

I've been to quite a few of the shows at the Glass Nickel. We went to a few shows several years ago, and it quickly became one of our favorite things to do with friends. I've enjoyed both the all-ages show and the adult show, and I think the performers put on a really fun show. The all-ages show is... More

My girlfriend and I went here for the first time recently. We saw a late night show called "The Merge" that combines improv and stand-up. The show was really fun to watch and it was just as fun watching the comedians be real and make fun of themselves as they mess up and laugh, as it clearly isn't scripted. It... More

Highly recommend seeing the Grown Up Show. For $10 per person and no drink minimum it's a deal. We were seated near the stage. All of the comedians are first rate. There is one waiter/bartender, Jake, that takes care of the entire room, with the help of Jessee. You can order food and drinks which comes from the Glass Nickel... More

First comedy show I have ever attended. The cast was funny and impromptu, coming up with immediate responses that cracked me up. I would definitely recommend their adult show and the pizza was served very quickly. They were packed with a full house but there was no waiting. I would have ordered a thinner crust than the regular next time,... More

My wife and I saw the adult show which starts at 8:00 on Saturdays. The improvisationists are very funny and there is a lot of audience participation. For $10, this is an incredible deal.

My girlfriend planned a night out for us and purchased two tickets to the 8 pm show. What a great time! We had some pizza and a few drinks while waiting for the show to begin. And once it began we didn't stop laughing until sometime the next morning. Since then we've been back with kids to the family friendly... More
