Olbrich Botanical Gardens is beautiful, peaceful and natural, any time of the year. The flowered paths invite you to wander. The Thai Pavilion is beautiful. Warmly recommended.

This is a must for anybody either in the Madison area or if just visiting. Right now in August, rains have been good and the flowers are really blooming like crazy! The staff here has kept this looking as if it is a perfect setting for a Hollywood show! The place is not huge, but just right for a lovely,... More

I must say that it is hard to believe that they do not charge an entrance fee. This is a large garden area which you can walk around at your own speed and enjoy the slender or you can ride a slow tram and have a commentary. We did both and with the sun above spent many hours enjoying the... More

This place is gorgeous. There are so many different areas to look at and the flowers are amazing. I love all the little nooks along the trails. Beautiful place for wedding photos. We didn't go in the inside area we just walked around outside.

Most important thing - be sure to allow enough time to see everything! I could have spent twice as much time here but arrived around 1 p.m. and had to be somewhere at 5 p.m. This is a beautiful garden with many interesting plants, lots of great benches for sitting, viewing and relaxing. We didn't go inside the section where... More

If you enjoy gardens, don't miss this one. Jeff Epping, the Director of Horticulture, is an extremely talented, well regarded plantsman with a great sense of design. Among his specialties are roses, and the use of grasses in design. Olbrich acquired more land recently, so the outdoor gardens are still expanding. There is also a Conservatory that is a wonderful... It is a real gem. Big enough for a diverse set of gardens, but easy to cover in hour or two. Well-maintained, but not fussy or pretentious.

We have visited gardens all over the U.S. and none have ever impressed us more than the Olbrich. It is beautifully maintained with lovely vistas, interesting structures, and unusual plant groupings scattered throughout. There are many benches and chairs placed strategically along the paths so that visitors can sit and relax while enjoying the many fine features of the garden.... More

Enjoyed a fun morning with my three grandchildren during the butterfly exhibit. They loved being able to watch the butterflies up close. I don't know if this is an annual exhibit. Instructional and magical.

While spending a few nights in Madison, DH and I had planned to drive to Jamesville to see the Rotary gardens; someone at our B&B suggested we go to Olbrich instead; I'm glad we changed our plans. We did not go in the Conservatory; we just wandered through the paths in the gardens (no charge for this) - everyplace/area was... More
