The Chazen was much larger than expected. They have a nice variety of modern and regional art. It's a nice place to spend an afternoon. You can't beat free either.

The newly remodeled Chazen Museum of Art features innovative exhibits and a diverse permanent collection. Admission is free, and the museum is small enough to be seen in a few hours and large enough to make those hours enjoyable.

Great collection -- always free admission; it's usually not crowded and you have plenty of time and space to appreciate the beautiful art they've amassed for you. Absolutely worth going.

The Chazen Museum of Art is stunning. Free admission. Very courteous guards. I felt as though I was getting joyfully lost inside. The space is remarkable, and each gallery area contains a brilliant interplay of 2D/wall-mounted visual art and free-standing/sculptural works. I overheard a group of fourth graders guided by one of the staff, and she was doing a fantastic... More

We went mid week on a cold snowy day. There are some wonderful things to see. And some things I just don't understand. I saw one couple getting their daily walk in but also taking in the sites as they walked. What a great idea, better than a shopping mall. I'd be there every day walking with all the fun... More

Extensive collection with something for everyone. The exterior of the property does not give you a clue that inside awaits a collection that will put a smile on a seasoned art lover. Check it out. Admission free and bring a good pair of walking shoes.

I love visiting the Chazen and feel it doesn't get enough attention in Madison. The museum has some impressive pieces (Grandma Moses, Lichtenstein, Hopper, Grant Wood, etc) and often has great exhibits. The cost is free and it's located in the heart of the University of Madison with a parking lot close by for easy access. If you are looking... More
