Beautiful Lake. It was extrememly quiet, calm, relaxing, every adjective that is good can be used to describe this place.
We hiked the Caddo Bend Trail around the peninsula on the lake. It took us 4 hours to finish the 4-mile hike because we stopped and took pictures. It's not too challenging. But there are some uphill sections and some downhill sections. Good hiking shoes with ankle support is recommended.
The water is so clean and clear plus the fishing is great. It's not very busy because it is so large. There really are not houses on the shoreline which make it very special. A wonderful place for a day or a week stay, but make reservations early for a summer stay. The best idea is to rent a house... More
The housekeeping with the ranger asked us to sweep mop the whole house and take the bed sheets out and she even made us sweep the doorstep of the cabin. That was very bad experience for us international travelers who paid 200 plus for one night and still had to do all the cleaning under pressure of being over charged.... More
Small, family friendly resort. Great cafe. Salad and soup bar, all fresh and homemade. Teriyaki chicken salad with almonds, coconut, mandarin oranges and an orange creamy dressing you couldn't stop eating!
Breath-taking! We stayed in the park cabins, completely modernized with jet spa tubs and deck with grill. Loved sitting out at night smelling the aroma of fall in the air, and listing to the coon hounds doing their thing off in the woods. I bet if a person listened hard enough they could hear activity in the village below Lake... More
My husband and I traveled here for vacation with another couple and we rented a pontoon boat to explore the Ouachita Lake...I'm sure glad we did! This lake is breathtaking! The lake is littered with many different islands you can dock on and explore. We saw in many cases people had camped out on the islands. The only bad thing... More
The best part about Lake Ouachita is that it is run by the government so no houses are on the lake. You can float and be surrounded by mountains and trees. There are a lot of islands on the lake and people pull their party boats up and set up camp for the day. It is one of my favorite... More
We camped with dogs and rented a boat to visit the many islands. A beautiful campground. The range of campsite facilities was good and the bathrooms were clean. AR does a good job with their state parks.
