The guided tour of the mansion was very good. We were there first thing in the morning and had a private tour because we were the only ones for that first departure. The gal giving the tour was very good, she knew her stuff. We enjoyed the museum as well.

The house is awesome and the tour very interesting. I was very disappointed with the gardens as they seemed to be poorly taken care of. Great visit though

We have visited Adena many times. We have even camped on their front lawn with the Boy Scouts. The house and tour are interesting, but the beautiful gardens are my favorite part. They have many different events through out the year. I particularly like their heirloom plant sell in the spring.

This beautiful home of Thomas Worthington, one of the early governors of Ohio, is not to be missed. The visitors center has many interesting exhibits and an informative video that gives one the context of Worthington's place in early American history and politics, including the debate about statehood for Ohio. We loved the attention to detail in the restoration of... More

Over the years I have been to many historic homes in the U.S. Monticello, Mount Vernon, etc., etc. Although an estate of a family not of national note, but of state note, this is a hidden jewel in southern Ohio. The guided tour of the mansion was excellent with great detail and plenty of opportunities for questions. I read earlier... More

We took 125 first graders to Adena and they were amazed with life 100+ years ago! No electricity, no indoor plumbing, dinner at 3:30 p.m., Tecumseh's tomahawk, 10 children, the funny mouse trap - the details our 6- and 7-year-olds remembered was astonishing! And it just goes to show you that you don't need electronic gadgets to make kids think... More

This is the home of Thomas Worthington, Who was once Governor of Ohio and a well traveled representative of the Ohio territory. The home and most of the furniture is original and there are hourly tours. Nice visit to get away. No fees

The museum entertained the children with reading the Polar Express and allowing a visit with Santa. We had a great breakfast and made keepsake ornaments and iced Christmas cookies. What a great time. The fellow that played the conductor looked just like Tom Hanks from the movie. He was great! No downside to this event.

Adena truly is a local treasure; however, when attempting to visit the grounds and take some photos, my friends/family and I were accosted by both a maintenance worker and an office staff member. They literally chased us down on a golf cart and berated us because we had not checked in at the visitor's center and because we did not... More

Adena Mansion is a very peaceful place to spend an afternoon. It is located high above the city of Chillicothe on a beautiful hill that has been very well preserved. I grew up visiting Adena on school field trips and now visit each year with my elementary students. In recent years, many new and exciting updates have been added to... More
