Haven't been there in a long time but I use to take my classes there for field day back in the 70s. Well worth your time if you're a history buff or love old restored homes.

I'm from the Cleveland area and have friends in Jackson county that I visit every month or so and I'm always looking for new things to do with them. They had not been to the Adena Mansion, nor had I, and we all enjoyed the tour. The Adena Mansion was home to the sixth governor of Ohio, Thomas Worthington. A... More

What a beautiful home. Thomas Worthington's estate is outstanding, full of history! The gardens were exceptional as well as the barn and other outbuildings. The museum was very informative...would highly recommend.

Step back in time and see what times were like back when Ohio fist became a state. If it were not for Thomas Worthington Ohio might have been two states; this is the location of the inspiration for the State Seal of Ohio, also this is one of three houses still standing that Benjamin Latrobe designed. Learns fun facts like... More

Adena was the 2000-acre estate of Thomas Worthington (1773-1827), sixth governor of Ohio and one of the state's first United States Senators. The mansion house, completed in 1806-1807, has been restored to look much as it did when the Worthington family lived there, including many original Worthington family furnishings. Adena is a great visit if one will take the time... More

A little difficult to find but worth the effort, Adena has been lovingly restored to authentic décor and furnishings. Tour guides are knowledgeable about the personal life of the Worthington family (Ohio's first governor) as well as the importance that Adena played in Ohio's early history. Tours of the home are guided, but be sure to allow plenty of time... More

Very nicely kept, historical, nice grounds, barns, mansion, museum. Historical & fun visit for the entire family. The Great Seal of Ohio is visible from this vantage point.

Unfortunately everything was closed including the museum. It was still a lovely autumn walk on the grounds, seeing the old gardens, barn & reading the plaques. Restrooms are indoors only.

The tour lasts about an hour and the guides are very knowledgeable. There is a small museum and gift shop. I recommend reserving some time in your visit for walking around the grounds and garden. Check out their website for tour times. If you coordinate your arrival time with the tour times then you wont have to spend any time... More

We were in Chillicothe 2 weeks ago and decided to visit Adena again. Adena is the mansion and beautiful estate of Governor Worthington, the first Governor of Ohio. The huge grounds are so lovely, the museum displays so intersting and well done, and the staff is, as always, ready to make your visit as nice as possible. My husband and... More
