Adena Mansion is amazing. The house and grounds are immaculate, and historically accurate. The guides know everything there is to know about the people and the area. Every Ohioan should come here once, since this is where the state began. They are not open on Monday or Tuesday.

We arrived on a Wednesday afternoon, a little too late for a scheduled tour. Adena is located on the top of a hill northwest of Chillicothe. We caught a glimpse of the mansion as we drove toward the parking lot. We’ve heard the mansion was designed by the architect of the US Capitol and includes impressive period reproduction furniture. But... More

We've toured countless historical homes but this was the best because of our well informed tour guide, MAS (initials). At the end of the tour I told her that her "information and knowledge is a treasure." She knew facts and information that only someone from that 19th century era would know. The historical mansion was restored and is charming to... More

My wife and I visited Adena on Friday, October 16th. Prior to arriving in Chillicothe, we did not even know this gem existed. This is the home of the sixth Governor of Ohio, and one of the early he statesman. Anyone interested in Ohio history, life in Ohio in the early 19th century, architecture from the early 19th century, antiques,... More

The mansion and gardens were lovely, but the tour was even better! Given by two knowledgeable women who provided such an extensive amount of information about the Worthington family but also about the culture and the way of life of the early 1800's. Please add this to your list of places to visit.

We had a wonderful tour guide who provided a thorough tour of the historic home. Our fourth grade daughter who is learning all about Ohio history LOVED seeing the state seal overlook.

Adena is not Mount Vernon or Monticello, but I would definitely include it among the "top ten" historical homes a person can visit. The State of Ohio was organized here, the Great Seal of Ohio is the view from the yard of this house, the mansion was designed by Benjamin Latrobe who supervised the construction of the United States Capitol...
