Perfect place to stay and wake up

I would only suggest to stay here at night, sleep and wake up to a beautiful view, then head to either horton plains or to a tea garden estate from there.

Nuwara Elia is a cute little mountain town with very nice mountain landscape! We stayed here for 3 nights and loved the colder weather, it was a good break from the heat of the north and we took our time here to slow down the trip and enjoy ourselves! The city doesn't have a lot to do though. We did... More

If you really love tea maybe it worths the visit. You will see tea fields everywhere and will be able to visit a tea factory! The processing of tea is quite simple: drying, crushing, fermenting or not, and packaging. Nothing sophisticated nor envolving high technology. If you visit one, you really don't need to visit a second one! As usual... More

All the hills that are covered with tea-plantations as well as vegetables are extremely beautiful. Not to Forget the interesting visit of a tea-factory with tea-tasting. Unforgettable.

The Heritage Tea Factory was overpriced and second rate. Dinner staff were uninterested. Room staff likewise.

On our drive from Negombo to Nuware Eliya, we stopped at a tea plantation. There are several on the way. Pick the one at the highest elevation. We had a superb tour of how the tea leaves are picked and how these are processed to achieve different grades. Got to taste some different types and learnt quite a bit about... More

This area is very picturesque with beautiful vistas of greenery, tea plantations, mountains, valleys and curving roads. We visited several tea plantations, stopped at waterfalls, caught a train to Ella and although we only stayed one night in the area could have stayed for many more. Be aware that the roads are slow and it may take several hours to... More

although it is a long haul up the hills to visit the views make it worthwhile don't stop for tea at the lower or mid level plantations wait until you are near the top at Mackwoods as the higher up you go the better quality the tea. Nuwara Eliya itself is now a busy hustle bustle placetake a walk round... More

Beautiful tea gardens. It is green all around. We experienced some rains in the evening, but that also added to the beauty of the place. Did some walking around on the local roads it was a good experience,. We took a train from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya and that was a memorable trip with beautiful scenery on both sides.

We spent a little time here and found it to be a delightful place, full of little glimpses of its past. Buildings, names and even the planting of the gardens all conspired to give a hint of the days of high tea and calling cards. Very worth a visit, especially if you are interested in history.
