Beautiful tea gardens. It is green all around. We experienced some rains in the evening, but that also added to the beauty of the place. Did some walking around on the local roads it was a good experience,. We took a train from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya and that was a memorable trip with beautiful scenery on both sides.

We spent a little time here and found it to be a delightful place, full of little glimpses of its past. Buildings, names and even the planting of the gardens all conspired to give a hint of the days of high tea and calling cards. Very worth a visit, especially if you are interested in history.

you will be amazed to see how they grow the tea on the mountain and they having those young girls picks the best tea leave one by one. It was nice to visit the tea factory, and learn a bit about how they select the tea leave and segregate the leaf into 3 or more different type of tea (white,... More

I stayed two days in Hortons Plains which is next to Nuwara Ellya. When we go to drive around Nuwara Ellya, we enjoy the scenery with limitless Tea fields everywhere. Weather is fantastic specially in March/April. If you like th fresh air and cool weather this is the place to be in Sri Lanka

We visited Nuwara Eliya in the mid of April for 3 nights along with our 3 yr old twins. Stayed in Araliya Green Hills hotel which is the biggest hotel in Nuwar Eliya having 160 rooms, hot water swimming pool, bar and billiard tables. The food is good too. Lovely place especially the weather and the hospitality of the local... More

It's a really good journey on an old train. Authentic period clothing worn by the conductor, very quaint. Definitely go first class for the 1 or 2 pounds extra it costs, it's worth it. I stood with the conductor at the front of the train and had a wonderful trip, highly recommended.

We travelled from Kandy to Nurawa Eliya on this scenic route climbing some 2000 metres along twisty roads with risky hairpin bends. So many waterfalls and beautiful spots for photographs of the hills, valleys and rivers...so green and fresh atmosphere. Drive through white clouds above the green hills covered with tea plantations and vegetable fruit farms. Highlight was a visit... More

We spent two nights at tranquil Nuwara Elia, at the other end of the lake away from the crowded hotels. Beautiful sunrise and sunset. Waking up in the morning was such a joy -- inhaling fresh moist air amongst singing birds, clear blue skies with snow white clouds hovering above moist green hills of plantations and crops. The mirrored reflections... More
