We pass Gregory Lake each time we walked from our guesthouse to get to the centre of town. It's a lovely walk. But it's a shame they charge you to walk right by the lake - 200 rupees if you're a foreigner or a tenth of that if you're not.

I visited Gregory lake today - not worth the ticket price (200-300rupees), especially when it was raining before (mud everywhere) - and that happens often in Nuwara Eliya.

Fantastic place and we enjoyed the view. However, the strange thing is that they charge you even to sit by the lakeside.

By chance, we passed by this lake and found that the people there were either jogging, cycling, boat-riding or horse riding. The man-made lake was initially built for generating electricity for the neighbouring towns and were mostly used by local people for recreational activities.
