Every teenage boy and child will shout at you "Hello Mister" from their bike as it whizzes by. On the beach, people will stop and ask to take a photograph with you. If you are in a taxi in lebuan, people may gather around to take a look at you, practice their english, all for a bit of craic. On... More

Carita Beach is well worth checking out especially the trip to Anak Krakatau. However to get there is a monumental task which requires the patience of Job. From Jakarta you can rent a car and driver to take you via the toll road and it's a reasonably quick trip depending on your timing. Plan to leave very early in the... More

The agent we booked with asserted that Carita beach is the best in Anyer area and arranged for our stay at the Lippo condo for one night...there was no proper food outlet around this place...looking at the utensils we dint feel like cooking in the room but we had no other choice...we just played at the beach and enjoyed seeing... When we went last year, the beach was filled with weekenders travelling from Jakarta and other parts of Indonesia. It wasn´t blue skies and clear seas. It rained and we had to stay indoors most of the time. The company made up for it of course. The road towards Carita was not fantastic and my bless the soul of my... More

Carita Public Beach is an interesting adventure especially for an old bule. When we arrived I had to hide in our tinted window SUV but the observant gate keeper quickly spotted me, however, my Indonesian in-laws were soon able to negotiate a reasonable entrance fee. This is when the adventure began in full earnest. As I was hiding my electronics... More

It is said that Carita Beach is the closest decent beach to Jakarta, but this is misleading on several fronts. Firstly, it isn't a decent beach. Despite being some 120kms from the capital, the water is murky and full of garbage. It attracts enormous numbers of locals on major holidays and they seem to regard the Sunda Strait as one... More

The road to Carita was not good. It did not worth the farther trip one had to make to reach it. The Anyer beach, which is closer to the Toll way is a better choice.

Carita beach is located not too far from Jakarta, using its main tollroad to the west it would take only about two hours if all are smooth to drive from Jakarta to Carita. You may choose one of two routes : taking a favorite route through Cilegon and Anyer beach, or taking a less taken route via Old Banten. Both... More
