Many reviewers are confusing this LDS center for the Visitor center in the courthouse. This is an LDS (Mormon) only center. Only come here if you are Mormon or if you are interested in mormons or mormon sites. There is nothing of interest here unless you are Mormon or want to learn about mormons. For the mormon this is your... More

The official web page says "8AM - 5 PM Monday - Saturday" so I thought great an early start I get there and nothing, eventually I find a sign in the window open @ 10!!!! So I walked around and the best thing I found was Main Street Coffee House where I had a good expresso in a genuine cup.

Very friendly staff of missionaries who know their stuff. They were great to encourage my teens to ask questions. Also very helpful in telling us how to get to other hard to find attractions.

Run by the National Parks Service, you must purchase your tickets to the Truman home here. Easily accessible at top of Main street. The building is a converted firehouse. Staff is friendly and the intro movie of Harry Truman is informative

We spent part of Christmas Eve there with our adult children and it was a special experience. The staff is always so pleasant and the Christmas decorations are nice.

Religion is a hot topic in Independence. Several churches own property right on the same "Temple Block". This visitor center does an excellent job giving the history and background on the movement to the area. The staff of "missionaries" give free tours and are on site to answer questions. They have a many rare and valuable artifacts you will not... More

This is a great place to take your family. It is immaculate. If you judge something by its 'cover,' then the Independence Visitor's Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints promises a wonderful visit. Beautifully landscaped grounds greet visitors as they come to the entrance. Sister missionaries greet you, and are eager to take you on a... More

We were unaware of the importance Missouri played in the development of the Mormon church. We had been to Salt Lake City and stopped at the Visitor Center there and so thought we would see what they had to offer. We had a guided tour by a young sister who was spending time here as part of her mission work.... More
