This is a great place to take your family. It is immaculate. If you judge something by its 'cover,' then the Independence Visitor's Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints promises a wonderful visit. Beautifully landscaped grounds greet visitors as they come to the entrance. Sister missionaries greet you, and are eager to take you on a... More

We were unaware of the importance Missouri played in the development of the Mormon church. We had been to Salt Lake City and stopped at the Visitor Center there and so thought we would see what they had to offer. We had a guided tour by a young sister who was spending time here as part of her mission work.... More

Independence MO is important to the LDS Church. This visitor's center highlights their reasons why and is informative about the LDS Church's beliefs. Two other sects of Mormonism have neighboring buildings and information too. Just across the street is the site where a temple was to have been built sometime between 1831 and the next 20-40 years (a generation). You... More

Our entire family enjoy our experience at the vistors' center. The demonstrations we fun, educational, and moving. One in particular moved us to tears. The sister missionary who was guiding our family gave us individual attention. Then before leaving a group of sisters missionaries gathered and sung a hymn for us. We are looking forward to visiting again, and taking... More

Wonderful stop if you are in Independence. This is the LDS Visitors Center and features several great exhibits about the early settlers in this area. Kid-friendly and yet interesting for adults. Interactive exhibits and neat pioneer reconstructions. This is not the city visitors center where you buy Truman House tickets but is a Historical Pioneer Visitors Center with exhibits. Open... There is a visitor's center on Walnut Street, but it is a visitor's center for the Church of Latter Day Saints. Ooops - i learned this the hard way, and was almost converted on the spot. LOL. There is a visitor's center that is located a few blocks away - unfortunately i dont have the address. But this is the... More

Provides information about all the sites and historical locations to see. Independence Square is also fun to visit because of all the shops and restaurants.

You need to pick up tickets here for the Harry Truman home and it is here that you get a short movie introducing showing his rise from humble beginnings and then final return to his hometown. Very informative.
