I had not visited Independence Square in several years. They have remodeled the space by lowering the walks ways and it is a great improvement. The shops that surround the Square are varied and nice. The iconic stature of Harry is a great place to stop and take a picture.

Many restaurants, see the courthouse, and great 50s style diner/soda shops. A few shops that are unique. Nice Saturday afternoon walk.

Great photo op for Oregon Trail and Santa Fe Trail markers here on the square by the Courthouse. Walk here from Truman''s house, five blocks east on Maple or on W Truman, and you'll see the spire of the Courthouse.

We had a great time on the square. Several cute shops. We liked the food too! The courthouse square has several interesting monuments and infornative historical plaques. A fun time.

I loved that the square really was a square and everything was in walking distance. I saw the statue, art galleries, and ate at a wonderful mexican restaurant with real mexican food. You can't go to Independence and not stop at the square. There was plenty of street parking too.

Walking history! The old-time Soda Fountain where Harry S. had his first job! Still going! Are you kidding? Fun shops, especially the one specializing in Swedish and other European crafts and foods/gifts. You can't miss it. If you like movies, the 'Pharaoh' is the place, like when you were a kid. And for fun they have free movies shown on... More

Good places to eat and neat for those that love history. Some nice places to shop. The Pharoe is a good place to go to the movies.
