So quaint

Lots of good restaurants and cute shops. Don't miss Gilbert Whitney and Be Here Now. Eat at Dave's. Take a carriage ride.

I need to keep going back and back because I never see it all. There is something for everyone on the Independence Square, the old courthouse, quaint shops, historical sites, a place to bowl, a movie theatre, great restaurants. Independence and shop/restaurant owners obviously take great pride in the Square.

I absolutely love the Independence Square! It's one of my favorite places to visit. It's the perfect walking distance for shopping, eating, or just taking in the history of it all. I only wish all the shops and restaurants were open on Sunday as well.

We visited during Christmas time and were pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the shop keepers and visitors like us. We were treated by an excellent team of volunteers within the Court House - handing out free cookies, hot chocolate, and a chance for young and old alike to sit on Santa's knee. GREAT TIME!

Indep. town square is a classic old time square: mom- and- pop stores and restaurants like the Rhineland, The Courthouse Exchange, and Ophelia's. There's a movie theater that for years(1970's and '80's) was a dollar, and a farmer's market on the north side in the summer. There's a couple of antique shops, a pharmacy, photography and art studios, and a... More

The Independence Square has so much to see and do. During the recent past it has changed from a sleepy area to one that is now vibrant. It has several excellent restaurants, a rejuvenated historic Courthouse, a top rate movie theatre, and many community activities, such as Santa Cali Gon, a fall festival over Labor Day weekend, and a Halloween... There are some really great little boutique shops on the Square now. I love that it has come back to life. I think everyone should take some time and go visit the locally owned and unique shops.

We visited the Independence square and visited the courthouse in which Mr. Truman served as presiding judge. They will give you a personal tour of the building and show you the courtroom where Truman served as judge. They are also very helpful and friendly. They offered us coffee and refreshments! We even took home children literature to give to our... More

This area has many landmarks of the area and of coarse Harry Truman statue. Go to Clinton's drug store for old fashion soda fountain.

Several nice boutiques and restaurants surround the historic courthouse where former Pres. Harry Truman served as a judge. Enjoy a nice served meal, eat in a hot dog specialty place, dine in Italian, Mexican or German restaurants or have fun sodas and ice cream! Shop for gifts, antiques, cooking or home items. Parking is good, and the Square also holds... More
