Our guide was excellent! He really is a GREAT story teller! Loved the covered wagon driven by a team of mules! The guide took us to all the spots in town and explained all about Harry S Truman and his family and also about the Civil War the soldiers, captains, etc. We really enjoyed this tour and would recommend it... If you are going to visit Independence, MO, you MUST take one of the tours offered by Ralph, your "trail guide", at Pioneer Trails Adventures. We are a family of 4, with 2 kids, age 9 and 6, and our 9 year old studied and read about the Oregon Trail this last school year. We were very excited to take... More

Very entertaining & educational. Great tour with the driver spilling over with enthusiasm which made the tour a lot of fun.

Well worth the $$. We took the 1+ hour ride on a covered wagon being drawn by two Missouri mules. The wagon master really knows about the area, Truman, and local historical events. He's a very good presenter/history teacher (wish I'd had this guy for a teacher while in school!) We are very glad we decided to take this tour... More

This was such a fantastic value and unique way to learn about the history of Independence. Our Wagon Master was not only enthusiastic but extremely educated on the rich history of this area. He was a great storyteller that young and old appreciated. Where else can you ride in an authentic covered wagon pulled by Missouri mules on the Santa... More

After seeing the Truman Library and Museum we thoroughly enjoyed Pioneer Trails. We took the tour option that lasted well over an hour. It was fun and interesting actually seeing a location while you’re learning about its history. The narrative provided was excellent and interjected with a bit of humor. Lots of great stories about Mr.Truman, the area itself and... More

We went on the full ride as did the reviewer below. We did it in 2 pieces 1. Paid for a combo ticket including entrance to the National Frontier Trails Museum. This was a 45 min tour starting/stopping at the museum. This section of the tour focused on the westward migration 2. We enjoyed that ride so much we paid... More

While visiting Independence with my family to learn all about Harry Truman, we decided to jump on the wagon and saddle up for the 60 minute tour. They do offer different deals at different prices: $7 pp for the 15-20 min tour; $15pp for the 30-35 min tour; $25pp for the 60-75 min tour with children 12 and under ride... More
