The Harry S. Truman Library and Museum is the first of the Presidential libraries; in fact the concept of making presidential papers available to the public was the brainchild of Truman himself. President Truman personally supervised the building of the Museum and Library. The museum provides an interesting and educational look into his administration. The self-guided tour starts with a... My admiration for Harry Truman and his life only grew after this visit. This has to be the best museum of its kind around. And it doesn't seek to rewrite history. The interactive displays are outstanding. This is about learning and understanding. Suggestion: do the movie or the guided tour, but it is not necessary to do both. Allow at... More

This fascinating library and museum really caught my interest. Born minutes before the baby boom, I was alive for all but a few months of HST's term. The exhibits are extremely well done, with a focus on presidential decision-making processes. Invest a half-day or ere at the Truman Library, then go visit his house nearby. You'll get a really thought-provoking... More

Small compared to some of the more recently built presidential libraries, but gives a comprehensive view of the life, as well as presidency of President Truman.

I love history and what the men and woman have done to make a change and even if Truman was in office cause of the lose of FDR he was alright and did what has needed to finish the job. The place is a great history and its not bad. Must go and visit.

Getting to the library was the only quirky part of the visit. Surrounding neighborhood west of it is a bit rundown. Library and grounds themselves were well worth the time and effort. Truman was President before I was born however his post-presidency contributions and continuous connection with the people are something some current and future presidents could learn a lot... More

This visit marked our second presidential library. Lots to see. The introductory film drove me crazy. Not sure what the objective was but it seemed like it was made for non-English speakers. One simple sentence at a time with English sub-titles. In the exhibits, learned in more detail about how important Truman was in our history. Enjoyed his takes on... More

I loved the way this Museum tells the story of this great man/president and also ties his life with historical events.

liked the visit as a surprise from going to another activity even if it waited until the next day- could spend many hours in this place describing the live of H Truman and seeing how the decisions he made over his term still affects us to this day and still reverberate for current activities- a well placed item

It takes serve real visits to see and absorb all the history displayed. Beginning at the entrance with the never magnificently beautiful mural painted by Thomas Hart Benton.
