We spent almost four hours visiting Truman's home and his museum/library yesterday. Initially I was just tagging along with my husband, who has wanted to visit for years. But once we reached the exhibits in the museum, I became a believer myself, lol! The museum does an excellent job of helping the visitor understand this time in our history, and... More

We visited on 8/21 after touring the Eisenhower Library the day before. The library is well laid out, it is easy to follow Truman's life and his achievements. The building is very nice looking and this is one on the nicest Presidential libraries we have been to.

The presidential libraries are always great places to explore history of our country. Going to the Truman Library and Truman home, down the street from the library, was quite educational. Start at the visitors center downtown Independence for some nice exhibits and short film. There is a jail museum down the street where Frank James was sequestered and the tour... More

The museum wonderfully tells the life story of this remarkable man, who rose from the most humble beginnings to one of the most memorable US presidents. There are several short films that are worth taking time for as they help to give context to the static displays in the halls of the museum. Truman faced challenges on the world stage... More

I'd always heard of Presidential Libraries, but never visited one. Visiting the Truman library was a step back in time, and an informative look at the years during which Truman was President. We spent a couple of hours, and saw a lot, but I would go again if in the area.

This was so interesting. It was such a challenging time and the museum really brought it to life! It seems that Harry Truman really was able to make hard decisions in very trying circumstances...

The interactive areas were very enjoyable. Wish there were more restrooms....kind of a pain to backtrack all the way downstairs to the restrooms and then go all the way back to where your party is waiting for you.

a very personal and factual record of one of our greatest and most humble Presidents. The courtyard gravesite and eternal flame is beautifully fitting for a great American

Regardless of your political persuasion, I highly recommend a visit here. Dramatic insight into decisions with historical implications. In addition, President & Mrs. Truman along with their daughter (mystery novelist) Margaret Truman Daniel & her husband Clifton are buried in the courtyard area. Very pretty burial sites. Money well spent in my opinion.
