The ashes of the great freedom fighter of India - Mahatma Gandhi had been kept here and hence the memorial has been built. A building of three floors and near the beach - makes it an important attraction to cover during Kanyakumari trip!

I wasn't sure what to expect from this place when I first thought of visiting. But to my surprise it was a unique piece of history that many people might not be aware of. If you want to know little more about Gandhi ji then you should visit this place. A unique characteristic of this memorial is the way its... More

Mahatma Gandhi's quote on the three waters was very beautiful, " The three waters are virgin as the goddesses." From this point one can clearly see the three colors of waters mixing with each other without losing their own colors. At the top of the temple, one can have a good prospective of the landscpae of Kanyakumari. The sight of... More

The Gandhi Memorial was very empty when I went and not many people seemed to be too interested to go there, which is very sad.

It is situated in the seashore, near to KanyaKumari Amman Temple, Tamilanadu, India. This is a Memorial to Mahatma Gandhi who had visited Kanyakumari in 1925 and 1937. The Mandapam is built in Orrisa style of architecture and designed in such a way that on his birthday, 2 October, the rays of the sun, through a hole on the roof,... More

Located in the Kanyakumari beach, the Gandhi memorial contains some photos and stories elucidating the freedom struggle and Gandhi's role in it. It is nice to climb up to the top and look around the entire scenery.

Quite old but still in good shape.Built by the then Govt of Kerala but now in tamil Nadu. Only thing it does not carry the importance of beig a memorial and people seem to be looking at it as a museum or showpiece.

A simple place near the sea beach. You have to remove the foot wares before entering the large hall where the ashes of Mahatma is kept and enclosure is there. You have to follow total silence inside the hall. You can climb up to the building to have ocean view, but nothing special inside the memorial.Entry-Free.
