Being the birth place of saint, it was a worthy place to visit. The church is built around the saint's actual lived house. With low roofs one can explore the saint's house with ducking around. It was not known to us as we were visiting the place for the first time but our boat driver took us there and was... More

Chavara Bhavan is the birth place of St.Kuriakose Elias Chavara, situated at Kainakary, backwaters of Kerala. The contribution of the saint towards revolution in education in the state of Kerala is remarkable and helped very much in the socio, economic and religious sector

It is the birth place of Saint Chavara. The place is very rustic and they have retained original birth house of Saint Chavara. Quite interesting

A thought provoking historical rewind !! Simplicity takes one to REAL heights. Maintained classically. The thatched House is simply Beautiful.

This was a pit stop for us mid way along the backwater tour. They had lovely restrooms which were welcome and the church was pretty. Most of all, it gave us an opportunity to see a lot of kids returning home from school which was fun.
