My wife and I are amateur kayak-ers, and in December last year, undertook one of our most memorable adventures under the tutelage of masters Binu and Samson (of Kerala Kayaking fame)! Jokes apart, kayaking through the backwaters was indeed the highlight of our backwater experience, even though we loved our homestay, our houseboat stay and also our drive through and... More

The houseboats look beautiful but we were really keen to have a different experience of the backwaters! I couldn't recommend more highly the fantastic day we had with Kerala kayaking! In a kayak you get the opportunity to explore much more narrow waterways and visit more remote villages. I have paddled before but you really don't need to be too... More

Had a fantastic day out on the afternoon kayak tour. You get a priveleged view of the backwaters where the bigger boats cannot go. You are taken out into four very different smaller canals where you can get a feel for the village life and truly appreciate the natural beauty of the area. Samson is a really terrific guide and... Amazing way to see the backwaters, where bigger boats can't go. Samson our guide was brilliant. This was definitely one of the highlights of our Kerala trip. Did the full day, hours of kayaking on quiet canals with beautiful scenery. Can't fault it. Thank you, Kathy and Dec

We had brilliant morning as we went for Kerala Kayaking's Sunrise 4hrs Tour at 6.30am! Lovely guide man called Samon came to our hotel to pick us up on his scooter! Yup that right 3 people on his scooter! Pretty cool! Then when we arrive at backwater canal and we get our own canoe to start with to paddle along... More

I really recommend kayaking through the backwaters if you enjoying a more active kind of sightseeing. We didn't go on a houseboat so I can't compare it, but this was a whole lot of fun. We did the 7 hour one starting at 11.30am. We had 4 kayaking sessions which added up to about 2.5-3 hours, which was definitely plenty!... More

We enjoyed Kerala Kayaking so much that we took the 4-hour excursion with them twice during our stay in Alappuzha. It was amazing to experience the backwaters this way, and there were a couple of stops for some nice 'street food' by the water side, including some very tasty banana cake. It's even better than seeing the backwaters by houseboat.

I went on both a houseboat and kayak tour while in Alleppy and if you have to choose one, definitely go for kayaking. You can go down the much quieter and smaller waterways and see wildlife like snakes and kingfishers up much closer. Samson our guide was friendly and fun too.
