Impressive experience of Moroccan culture

The enthusiasm and talent of his owner created a very impressive presentation of the Moroccan life in the middle of the desert. Worthwhile to make an stop on your way to Fes.

This is truly an oasis of a museum, complete with a guide with encyclopaedic knowledge of Moroccan culture. We were honoured to receive the personal treatment from Mr Zaid himself who showed us around his collection of treasures. The man himself is a treasure of knowledge on Ancient Morocco and a Humanist in the best tradition so take advantage to... More

It needs a very special person with outstanding perseverance, willpower and talent to change a polluted desert well into a beautiful museum. We never expected to see such a nice place and to meet an interesting, passionate person like Zaid. A Project like Sources Lalla Mimouna is a very rare thing to find anywhere, but absolutely worthwhile supporting!

We'd not read any of the reviews here, just a very enthusiastic write-up in our two-year old Rough Guide, since when even more has been added to M. Zaid's labour of love. Previous contributors have described this project very well, so we won't try to compete with them! We visited because we were touring the area, but would now advise... More

It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” ― The Little Prince The multi-talented artist, poet, and calligrapher, Zaid Abbou, has brought to life like the gurgling springs around it, the Lalla Mimoun Museum, a tribute to Berber/Amazigh culture unlike any I've seen during my several weeks in Morocco.... I nearly didn't turn off. It's a remarkable story of his a neglected series of lovely springs was brought back to life. The whole place is quite beautiful.

This small museum has a fascinating story and is well worth the small entrance fee. Mr Zaid, a local artist (calligraphy) and the curator of the museum, was a delightful host and showed us round each exhibit. I loved the philosophy of the place with its focus on the essential nature of water for life, and it is amazing to... More

An interesting kind of place. It started life as a watering hole, but then got forgotten and abandoned. The current manager, brought it back to life and repurposed it as an etnological museum. The collection is vast and the difference to other similar establishemts is that you have a very direct access to the objects, like very old stone arrow... More

Mr Zaid has incorporated the gorgeous natural springs of the area and built a traditional museum & art gallery around them, this is where he takes you on an amazing cultural journey that will open your eyes & touch your heart. The work he has put into making this museum what it is has to be seen to be believed,... More
