This is an 8 mile loop in the hills. Imagine if it is not sleeting and snowing outside would be pretty. We stopped at a pottery spot and kinfolk of in the middle of the drive is a shopping area that has 20 or so stores--candle shops (2), art galleries, Native American store, and several others. About half the stores... More

Love to look at the unique gift options. Have visited several times and only got to do small portions. However, we were able to spend an entire day relaxing while shopping.

Don't plan on walking this! You need to pick up a map to make sure you stop and see the true artisans that have demonstrations. I was hoping to get away from the commercialism of the main strip of Gatlinburg, but there is still, unfortunately, plenty of it on this loop.

At our B&B hosts' suggestions, we spent the entire day visiting the shops along the "loop." Since we were there "off season," we were able to chat with the shop owners and learn more about their skills. As some of the locals will tell you, you need to be discerning with where you shop, as there are many non-local commercial... More

We purchased some crafts and watched local craftsmen at work. Lovely drive through the hills to visit shops. It's best to get a map of the community and plot your course.

Some of these shops are not “local” talent as one is led to believe by promotions. If you are not mindful of that you could end of in a shop that offers “art” no better than what you find in any Walmart. Before visiting, determine your interests by researching online, then, once you are in Gatlinburg, pick up one of... More

We had a great time stopping in the various shops and galleries, meeting the people, hearing the stories. We bough a feq very unique pieces at reasonable prices for ourselves and several smaller gifts to bring home. Stop in as few or many as you choose. Don't miss this!
