There are so many shops with unique items. Most are related to the area and handmade by local artisans. Spend a few hours here driving from shop to shop for a real treat.

If you're looking for sophisticated crafts more along the line of the American Craft Council shows, then you're going to be disappointed. Is much of what you see "junk" like some of the negative reviews say? No. To get the most from your loop through the craft community, pick up a brochure and mark the shops that will interest you... Visiting this area was not in our original plans for our recent trip to Gatlinburg but we're pleased we chose to do it. There is about at 8 mile loop that features clusters of locally owned businesses and a variety of arts and crafts. The best part of our experience was interacting with the shop owners. Each visit felt like... More

So many shops and such a variety of local artisans. Well worth the drive. Take your time and enjoy. Everything from carvings to pottery to magic to paintings and crafts - mostly locally done.

Pleasant drive in the "country" just moments from downtown Gatlinburg. Some "junk" but lots of great crafts and arts - the creativity of some folks is amazing. We really love Misty Mountain Soap (and more). Big fan of ALewine pottery and discovered Brandywine pottery this trip. Plan 2 - 4 hours or even more to make the full loop.

This is a great way to see how it use to be. Living off the land & making things from hand. Great way to meet some locals and learn how they did things back in the day.

My family and I have been going through the arts and crafts community for years. There is always something that changes. This is not a place to find cheap items. This is a place to go to find items that people actually have a skill, not something made by a machine or overseas. So you will find that some prices... More

Many shops were closed, hopefully it was because we were shopping on a Sunday. Found numerous gifts for friends and family, much better shopping than downtown.

We drove the 8-mile loop and saw many interesting shops and restaurants, offering an amazing array of crafts and locally made products. The most fun, though, was checking in with Eric Arensbak at A Troll in the Park, and getting directions to Troll Mountain, so we could see how the world famous Arensbak Trolls are actually created. We will definitely... More

We drove to the Arts and Crafts Community, and I felt like we spent a lot of time stopping, parking, looking around then repearting. Some of the stores have nicely made local products, others have mass produced commercial ware.
