My husband and I did the craft loop and we found many interesting shops and items. I am into crafts, so I found these shops fun. Our favorite place to stop wasn't a craft shop, but an old time ice cream parlor. It is a few miles down from the entrance and on the left side. It is kind of... More

Its really amazing the talent these people have. Places like this is what makes the smokies the smokies. All very talented humans that make everything by hand. I would spen money here before i would the everyday gift stores.

Take a little trip outside of downtown Gatlinburg and you will find this little community. Many shops displaying and sometimes making local arts and crafts. Plenty of parking. A few small restaurants scattered throughout. The trolleys make regular visits to and from town. Perfect place to buy gifts and souvenirs to take home.

Be sure to stop at the shops right on the main highway at the light just before you turn to go back to the regular crafts district, santas clause has moved up there to a wonderful new and improved shop, a variety of leather and wood working shops as well

Loved seeing the numerous vendors, but mostly window shopped this time....I esp. Enjoy watching the craft people actually making things while you get to watch....parking can be tricky when things are in full swing and im disabled, so its hard for me to walk much distance...next time I might have to take my wheelchair and let a friend push me

I had visited this area about 20 years ago and it was constantly getting back in the car and driving or hopping back on the trolley. Now a lot of the crafters are in little mall areas which make the visit much more enjoyable. I think I went in more stores that I might not have if they were located... More

Byrne's Woodcrafts (great cedar chests and wood spinners), Whaley's Woodcrafts (handmade martin house), Ogle's Broom Shop (hand carved and stained brooms, walking sticks that are a work of art and sturdier than any Chinese thing you will ever find in Wal-mart), Concrete Statuary Designs (garden fountains made out of concrete than the typical resin ones from the big box stores),... Stopped off and ate lunch on a spur of the moment decision and so glad we did. The food was great and the people that worked there were so wonderful. Will definitely do this one again.

In my opinion, it should be named "Tourist Trap." To be fair, there are some talented craftsmen, (I'm not politically correct.) and there is an abundance of "arts and crafts" items for sale. But most of it is overpriced, and there are a lot more items from China than from the Smoky Mountain area.

There is no place else in the US where you will find a community like the Arts and Crafts community. Everyone is so talented and gives back to the community. The skill and artistry that goes into their work is priceless! If you haven't been to the Glades, it's time to take a trip.
