You will find some shops have items that are not handmade but don't get discouraged because there are many that are truely handmade treasures. At one stop I purchased hand dyed material for sewing and another hand blown glass jewelry. Take the time and stop and walk through what they have to offer and enjoy lunch. We stopped at one... My husband and I visited the Arts and Crafts Community and overall it was a good experience. We did the trolley option which we thought would be better than driving, but it turns out that the trolley makes multiple stops and if you get off at the first stop, you have to wait about an hour for it to pick... I love driving through the Arts and Crafts Community when I travel to Gatlinburg. You do have to drive and get in and out of the car but I love seeing the artisans at work. You can go to as few or as many places as you want. It is a scenic drive and a nice change of pace to... More

My husband and I drove out to this area on a weekday. We didn't see any crafts people, just some rather exclusive shops with expensive oil paintings, etc. It did not have a 'crafty' vibe to me at all. Maybe there is another area that we should have gone to, but I wasn't at all impressed with what we saw.

What can't you find in this Arts & Crafts Community! A little bit of everything, from crafters actually making crafts, to quaint little shops, fine dining, fudge shops, and an old-fashioned ice cream shop. Plan on spending the day in the craft circle. Take your time and drive the loop, (I believe it's about 7-8 miles). There are quite a... More

Second Time doing this. I am not a shopper at all but had fun walking through shops reading all the funny signs and taste testing a lot of Jams and sauces in some shops. Plenty of unique shops and easy drives to places. Also nice spots to sit and wait while the Wife shopped and spent our vacation $$.

I could get lost here for hours (in a good way.) There are so many shops and all local artists. Every shop is unique. We decided to leave the kids at home for this outing. It is not child friendly. Most shops are small and you are surrounded by breakables. We spent about 4 hours here and saw about 3/4... More

This is a nice drive to take on a good day. The road winds around in the mountains with lots of stops along the way. Most of the places you can see the artists at work.

I have been to Gatlinburg and never went to the Arts and Crafts Community. Was I ever missing out. I now consider this stretch of different shops and art galleries my favorite part of Gatlinburg. The artist are very talented and also friendly. I went on a Monday morning and it was great. No crowds and talked with all the... More
