You must take time to visit if you are in area. Each shop is well marked with what is sold and who the proprietor is. A lot of shops have trade men working for you to watch.

We thought we would spend the day in the arts and crafts community; however, it only took a few hours and we were stretching it at that. It turned out to be the same stuff over and over and even for arts and crafts was way overpriced.
NEVER GO TO THE CANDLE FACTORY!!! We were very rudely confronted by the owner. He was very unfriendly and sassy. Apparently kids (including teenagers) cant even really hold a candle without being yelled at. I love crafts, and love looking at all the handcrafted items located together, and especially bringing some of them home.
Loved browsing in all the shops. I especially liked that there were plenty of benches to sit down and rest and plenty of restrooms available. Don't pass this up--there's something there for everyone,.

I never get tired of this area. All original products. Very friendly people. I particularly like 2 of the woodworking shops and always buy something. Lots of history to be learned if you talk to some of the craftsmen.
I had a pair of moccasins made for me - *hand made* by Panther Moccasins. Best pair of shoes I own! Kept my feet warm all winter without the least amount of sweaty feet. WOW!
If you go to Gatlinburg and you don't take a day to visit the arts and crafts community, you are missing the best of Gatlinburg. Alewine Pottery is awesome. We bought about $1000 worth of mugs and lamps and vases for our home. The craftwork is astounding. The maple leaves carved into every piece make this pottery stand out and...
