We visited shortly after a big snow storm, and the trails were already groomed. The trails are much wider than any I've been to. They were fairly well marked with maps, and well marked with ski level and directional signage. We were only have to visit for a short time, but what we did see left us wanting to come... More

We descended and climbed out of Devil's Track Gorge and went on to the Pincushion Mountain summit. We walked down to a rock outcropping which overlooked Lake Superior. The views were stupendous! It was a beautiful day - blue, blue sky - making it well worth the climb.

We hiked up to the top for the wonderful view overlooking Lake Superior. The trail going up was soggy and boring about 45 minutes each way.

I am no longer able to walk trails, but the short drive off the Gunflint Trail (Cook County # 12) brought us to a trailhead/lookout parking area. All I coudl say was WOW! The view overlooking Grand Marais and Lake Superior virtually takes your breath away. That view, by the way, is even more stunning at daybreak and at dusk.... More

Pick your activity any time of year... you can do it all at Pincushion. And a great overlook and view of Grand Marais and Lake Superior. Worth a few minutes or all day.

We started out right away in the morning and spent a few hours hiking up to the Pincushion Mtn. Overlook. It was a beautiful hike with well maintained trails. It was a bit wet due to heavy (5") downpour a few nights before and little confusing on where the trail started. If you just go due north you will get... More

Beautiful area. We went up there to snowshoe and enjoyed the afternoon. A great area for crosscountry skiing too.

I was able to visit Pincushion Mountain just before sunset. I had the opportunity to do a plein air watercolor of the beautiful view of Grand Marais and the harbor.

Not a spot of trash to be seen. Views of Lake Superior were incredible. It would have been nice to have the maps along the route more clearly marked. But not like you'd get lost just so you know how far you are going.
