Neat idea, several very interesting sessions and lots of new ideas. Planning for the next offering could use some forethought and consideration for both convience of participants and the economy of the area. Missed opportunities for cross pollination and civic coordination.

I will not go into the past of the Art colony as that can be found in many places and I will not take your time with the retelling of all tales associated with the fledgling beginnings. I am going to say with earnest conviction that the Art Colony, is a strong and vibrant artistic enclave. The founding bedrock has... More

There's a bakery in the building off to the side, but it was closed when we were there. Great woodcut and jewelry art for sale.

Our 6-year old girl was the one who was very excited about it. The receptionist was friendly; the same is... More

Fabulous studios and assortment of classes. I purchased a bracelet made by one of the artists in their little gift area . They have large equipment for printing.

Art Colony has workshops, classes, art instruction and art shows. So much to do and see for artists and art appreciators. Besides the Art Colony there are galleries and great restaurants in Grand Marais.

Sadly we went to this at the wrong time of year so a bit of an unfair review. But I think it's worth mentioning that it's probably a good idea to check their website ahead and go when they have classes or workshops. Very nice woman did a bit of an intro of what they do at the site. I... More

Would definitely return in future. Be sure to book motel in advance since this whole area gets SOLD out of rooms during summer months. CREATIVE place and very inspirational.
