The Glen Canyon Dam is comparable in size to Hoover Dam (GC is ~16 feet shorter, but 300 feet wider). The visitor's center offers three movies (15 min each) shown pretty much continuously in its small auditorium which give a great overview of the construction of the dam, the environmental issues it created and desert habitat.
