We visited the Carl Hayden visitor center right by the dam, it gives a lot of information about dams and history about Glen Canyon. Free visit but offer a $5 tour of the dam.

Took the scenic drive to have a look at the dam. It was nice, however you can't compare it to Hoover dam. This one is nice because it has beautiful surroundings.

We went to take a look at the Glen Canyon Dam Museum and ended up taking the Dam tour ! It was more than I expected. Got to walk across the top of the dam and then went a long way down inside the dam to see the generators. The engineering in the construction and maintenance of this dam is... More

Short drive from where we were staying. There is also a scenic overlook from route 89? Panorama is beautiful, but was very windy when we were there. Scenic overlook is not handicap accessible and has both sand and rocks. Visitor center has plenty of parking and close by to the walkway to the bridge for close view of the Dam.... More

The movie at the visitor center was very good to see how they built this dam! Then to go outside and see it was amazing.

Over spring break, our family of four took this tour. My kids are 10 & 13. It was their favorite - out of everything we did in Page! We went in the visitor center, signed up for a tour and took about 30 min to see the other exhibits in the visitor center. (The gift shop is very nice.) The... More

A visit to the dam should include a tour of the dam itself. The tour guides are very informative and the tour to the inside of the dam is really cool, when you take a moment to consider where you are. As always, the National Park Service does a good job in the visitors' center with many exhibits and models... More

The dam has interesting exhibits and a great gift shop, and a good tour. It provides clean, renewable energy and water for thousands of people, and the gorgeous Lake Powell owes its existence to it. A hooray to eco management, and a boo to eco freaks against such great structures!

The Glen Canyon Dam has a lot of similarities to the Hoover dam, less the fanfare and crowds. the visitor center here, the Carl Hayden Center, does a good job in describing the construction and statistics, as well as providing an excellent concept of the area watershed and Lake Powell canyons. Excellent view from inside of the building if you... More
