Located down the block from the Brooklyn Museum, the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, and across the street from Prospect Park, the main branch is a treasure. Whatever your interest, it is there. And when you are done, stroll over to the above mentioned places. Enjoy !

...and right near Prospect Park. So grab a book and go sit and read in one of Fredrick Law Olmsted's masterpieces.

It's a "brilliant" library ! Am was in from out of town and needed to do some research about my design project . This is a wonderful library with an excellent facilities to the public. The structure of the building is also creative shaped just like an open book. The librarians who assisted me were extremely kind and helpful. Great... More

I've always enjoyed this library. As a small child, this is where I was found my love of reading. As an adult, I am still amazed by how much is available at this place, from the multimedia center to the food cafe (there used to be a great cafeteria on the third floor, but I'm not sure if it's still... Tons of books, computers etc. Workshops and classes... I came to get my passport done, and had a great experience. They're very accommodating.

and not just for books! The library building itself is shaped like an open book facing Grand Army Plaza. Its main entrance is marked by a grand door, 50 feet high, with literary motifs rendered in high Art Deco style. A worthy memorial to 1941 style in NYC. (Interestingly, neither the Brooklyn nor the Queens libraries are part of the... More

It's only a library, and I wouldn't make a special trip there, BUT: if you're in Brooklyn and need a great library, or are in area anyway, the main branch is a joy in every way. It's housed in a beautiful Art Deco building which is meticulously maintained, has a big collection of books and other resources, is staffed with... More

Great place to do just about anything! From reading books from the library, to reading your own books! Using wifi, or the librarys computers. Doing homework, or joining the programs. Even just having a good dmc with a friend. BPL is the place to go!
