The building is a beautiful and historically rich addition to the neighborhood. However the flagship of the Brooklyn Public Library System should have more diversity in art and offerings. The furniture and equipment is shabby. The only real cool spots is the walk around the second floor balcony and the new-ish Information commons (which allows you to book meetings for... More

Just a wonderful place to pop in and do some reading, research, check out a book, a movie. So much going on here.

The Brooklyn Public Library -- Main Branch is one of the best libraries in New York City. It is housed in a fantastic building with its incredible facade, magnificent grand lobby and vast contemporary and historical collections in the middle of Grand Army Plaza. The idea for such a library began in 1889 but the ultimate construction and opening did... More

The main branch of the library is a majestic structure, outside and inside. It has successfully made the transition to a real community space offering high quality and beautifully curated art exhibits, readings, concerts, classes, good quality cafe, and work space.

This library has great children's activities including story time for ages as young as 3 months. I am a local however this is a good place for tourists to see, and there are lots of our cool things to do and see around the area.

Completely trash. The noise level is oppressive as well as the smell. During rush hour keep your kids away as the exhaust permeate the building. They don't care about filtering the air.

My wife and I were watching our friend's daughter and walked in. The people in the library were very nice and invited my wife and friend's daughter to participate in a crafting activity.

If you are visiting Brooklyn and planning to check out either the Brooklyn Museum (go!) or Prospect Park, it is worth a stop at Grand Army Plaza to see the Arch and the main branch of the public library. For tourists I wouldn't necessarily say it is worth going inside unless you need a bathroom or place to escape some... More

Well it is know as the main branch. There are some other area in Brooklyn where you can find some big libraries but I thing that this is the biggest and most beautiful. Not only beauty that has is surpass the rest; but the level and availability of resources there. It is in a good area and along side the... More

If you want to know about the public places to visit in Brooklyn. You should go to Library and appreciate the architecture and the variety of books.
