Everyone wants to walk the Brooklyn Bridge and they should! But stay awhile if you can. The Bridge empties into the Brooklyn Heights neighbourhood which has lots of history (like Truman Capote's house) but if you turn left after the bridge you will find yourself in a chic area known as Dumbo (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) Probably the... Sights and sounds of people with cell phones and photographers lining the block with traffic navigating around them while taking in the views was worthy of another sunset trip.

Nice place to spend an afternoon. Walking, eating, looking at the views along the shoreline. Recommend taking a ferry ride for sightseeing or just to travel up the East River to Long Island or return to Manhattan via E. 34th St drop off. Lots to explore, eat and ride a bike or walk by yourself, family, couples, even dogs....

Again, a walk around Brooklyn is not complete until you visit this area. All so close to great food and drinks, the scenery can't be beat.

Our son has just moved into Jay Street in Dumbo so have spent some time there. Great location that feels a little like Wapping in Docklands, East London. Old buildings regenerated, trendy shops and bars and the best view of New York skyline. Very relaxed and cool vibe and well worth a visit. Lots of new development, as in Brooklyn... More

Coming from Cobble Hill, DUMBO is a comparatively sleepy neighborhood. Weekends are quiet, but offer spectacular views of some of NYC's greatest bridges, as well as access to Brooklyn Bridge Park (a true gem of a park). The hood has a few restaurants (none are worth the interminable wait) and cafes, but all in all I'd prefer to spend my... More

We went on a tour of Brooklyn to discover Dumbo but anyone can go there on public transportation and just browse around. Lots to see especially in conjunction with the newly developed parks along the waterfront. Go there - you won't be disappointed.
