A friend I met at the hostel knew more about DUMBO than what I did which really helped me out. From the City we got the Subway into Brooklyn Heights and walked the streets to DUMBO and the amazing New York skyline is right there! Statue of Liberty to the Left and the City Skyline to the right. We ended... More

The Dumbo area of Williamsburg is a fun area to visit with family and friends. There are several restaurants, with outdoor seating. There's a nice wooden pier where you can take a water taxi to Manhattan. It's at one end of the Brooklyn Bridge Park.

DUMBO is an upscale condo/apartment/shopping area but it is also a great destination if you have children; like to walk or run; or want a fabulous view of Manhattan. At the north end, just north of Fulton Street, on the water you will find an enclosed merry-go-round and just south of Fulton on the water you can watch the ferry... More

DUMBO -- Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass-- was once an industrial area between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. For years after industry and manufacturing declined in NYC, this was a pretty forlorn and empty neighborhood. Artists moved in and enjoyed the huge loft spaces, even if amenities were few and lots of sweat equity was needed to make a... More

A little gem of an area between the Manhattan & Brooklyn bridges. Whilst it is clearly undergoing a great deal of development at the moment, it's still a peaceful place to sit & daydream beside the East River, whilst enjoying the great views & soothing sound of the lapping water. We spotted many small bars & cafés on our short... More

Had to visit just because of the name. Quaint shops and restaurants, nice walkways along the East River. Great place to walk, hold hands and absorb the surroundings.

With quaint little shops and great restaurants, with a fantastic view on NYC, how can you not like this place, Only problem is parking - very difficult at times, but worth the effort.

Quiet, peaceful and hiden. Serviced by subway so easy back to Manhattan. Green, leafy and 'slow'. No wonder no one knows where it is!

DUMBO is a great place to spend an afternoon. Jacques Torres Chocolatier has the best hot chocolate. Try the cayenne pepper version for a little zip to warm up on a chilly day.
