I have gone 2 times now to see the Christmas lights. I'm making it a tration. The residents pay professionals to decorate their houses for Christmas. I here some projects cost up to $3000.00. There are houses that are completely covered with lights. Some have music playing. On one trip there a house had a DJ outside playing. It seemed... More

This is the neighborhood in Brooklyn that is a must see at Christmastime. Many of the residents put on spectacular Christmas displays that rival those put on by commercial enterprises. You won't believe the lengths that some of the residents go to during the season. It's truly a Christmas extravaganza, that you won't believe, until you see it for yourself.... More

nice and quiet neighborhood over public golf course & tennis courts, easy commute to Manhattan via express bus (pricey, $6 per ride). There are few houses with best-in-town xmas decorations around 12th avenue & 84th street

This was amazing. Went by bus to all the famous people in the rich Dyker Heights area. The tour guide has music on the way on the bus and you see many houses and you get to get off the bus and walk around and take pics. It ends at a local restaurant where they give you a canoli &... More

Choose a clear night/evening without raining or snowing and visit in December the streets in Dyker Heights. The houses are illuminated like in the movies.

Having lived in neighboring Bay Ridge, I can truly say Dyker Heights is a great neighborhood in Brooklyn. Despite it being situated in between the neighborhoods of Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Borough Park, and Sunset Park, the D and N subway trains, and the BQE and Belt Parkway, the neighborhood feels self-contained, safe to walk across, and the housing stock seems... Nice neighborhood all year round..some beautiful homes..however during Christmas season the neighbors seem to compete for attention with their lavish lightings..a must see....some streets get traffic jams and lots of pedestrian traffic..

The area hasn't changed much since I grew up there in the 50's and early 60's.....it is still predominantly Italian which affords you plenty of opportunities to sample some great Italian cuisine....It is a safe area and if you are there during Christmas season you are in for a great...There are some incredibly expansive and novel lighted Displays such as... We strolled around on our own one night between Christmas and new years eve after reading some suggestions and it was awesome! As a newcomer to the united states I thought last year's Christmas in California was great, but this exceeded it by far. It's just crazy what people make of their homes for Christmas! The main streets to see... More
