Dyker Heights used to be a heavily Italian American neighborhood, but Chinese Americans have been moving to the area in large numbers and have made it their own to an extent. I love what this community has done with the area. So many different exotic shopping and dining experiences. Note, there are still areas with a heavy Italian influence, which... More

Dyker Heights is my favorite area of Brooklyn to drive through around Christmas time. This neighborhood has a few amazingly decorated houses that attracts my family for the past 20 years in the month of December. It seems that local homeowners competing with each other for the most fairy tale like houses. I do not know for how long homeowners... More

This is a great neighborhood. bring the kids or your first date or go for your 50th wedding anniversary during Christmas time. Even a rabbi couldn't deny how breathtaking the neighborhood is. The Italians take pride in their decorations and they compete against one another. Some ask for donations and they give the money to good causes. That;s how big... More

A lovely neighborhood of large ornate homes that sit on a hill that is very close to the Verrazano Bridge. Best time to visit is Christmas time when the streets are bright with decorations from one end to the other and traffic is a nightmare!

Great place to visit and see the Christmas lights on various privately owned homes. The best way to do this is to go In the early evening and just drive around. Of course you must respect the people who live there by not blocking traffic or being in the way

Dyer Heights is a nice residential neighborhood. It is not at all a tourist attraction. With the exception of good pizza and beautifully decorated homes for the holidays, there is no other reason to go there.

If you love Christmas decorations, this is the place to go after the Fifth avenue displays. These displays have become a traditions in the neighborhood and have been in display on Christmas for many years. The only con is that it has become such a big deal, that its practically impossible to enjoy the displays on weekends due to the... More

The homes in Dyker Heights are old and massive. There are various styles to see and admires. There is als the commercial aspect with mant stores and good restaurants (Chef Andrea) being one of my favorites. Bust during the day as locals ar eout shopping. Also some very good backeries such as "Grandma's)

Visiting with the family over Christmas we wanted something fun and saw on Samantha Brown the Slice of Brooklyn's Christmas light tour....this was such fun. We loaded a bus in Manhattan and rode out to Brooklyn and saw beautiful displays but the highlight was getting off the bus in Dyker Heights and seeing more lights and displays and animation I...
