Coney Island is an institution, and it's worth seeing even as it gets gentrified more and more every year. More

I haven't been there in a while, but the rides were fun and the food was delicious (Nathan's -- duh!) but it can be pricey if you're there long enough with a lot of people. More

Finally, on my 4th visit to the Big Apple, I made the subway ride out to the beach. Nathan's hot dogs give you the first impression, followed by the amusement park with one old roller coaster left from the hey days. The sand blown board walk is lined with dilapidated shops and stalls, only one dance hall still standing (boarded... More

It is about 1-1.5 hour (one way depending whether local or express train) trip from Manhattan to Coney Island. A quite nice place early in the morning (very few people) and in great weather. I probably would not want to be there when it is crowded; also the beach sand was full of broken glass and other stuff. I can... More

Coney Island has is such a pop-culture value, that you have to like it even before you go there. Being presented in so many movies , books, TV series.. Amusement Park + the Beach- enough ingredients for fun already . I wouldn't miss to have at least one ride, and than after visitinf Aquarium ( with dolphin/ seal feeding show... More

Great boardwalks and long stretches of beaches but really crowded in the summer and a long subway ride from the city. Do go there atleast once though and do not forget to go to the famous Nathans for a hot dog. More

The boardwalk was unkept and dirty, the beach was not what I remembered it to be and the rides were just old and nasty. More

I always visit Coney Island eventhough we live in the Bronx. The old look of the buldings, rides, foods, games and vendors always keep me busy when I visit. The music near the boardwalk and the atmosphere is just great. More
