I live in brooklyn and have been coming to Coney Island for decades. The rides are great but things can get crowded, boardwalk food isn't your best choice - head for Grimaldi's on Surf Avenue, or, better yet, to a Russian restaurant in Brighton Beach, a 10 minute walk down the Boardwalk. There are freak shows, music on the boardwalk... More

Coney Island is one of my favorite places on earth! If you had any idea how far it has come from where it was during NYC's gang & crack era, you would appreciate the family friendly; (relatively) clean attraction it is today. Confounded with the hardships the area experience after Hurricane Sandy; it's a testament the resilience of New Yorkers.... More

My kids love going to Coney Island because of the amusement park. I would recommend going during the day it is more family oriented and not busy at all. At night it is very crowded and really not a place for young kids and families. The beach is great during the early part of the day. Best advice avoid it... More

It had been snowing the day we came and to see the snow on the beach was quite something. The boardwalk is really nice, it has all been done up and we walked out to the end which is quite a way into the sea when the tide is in. We ate at Nathan's Famous Clam Restaurant which is a... More

We visited in April and there wasn't alot open or many people around. The beach and boardwalk were very clean though and the people/staff were really friendly. We had food at Nathan's and had no trouble except with a very disturbed person on the subway ride there, which could have happened on any train.

My entire life (40 plus years) every summer meant going to Coney Island, whether it was to the beach or on the rides in the amusement park. In recent years, CI has undergone many improvements and is probably the safest it has ever been in my recollection. The Mermaid Parade is probably the largest it has ever been in recent... More

The height of NY atmosphere and fun and a great place to spend a day with family and friends, walking the boardwalk, going on rides, eating and hanging out.

Coney Island has been part of my life since childhood - and I remember when the Beatles came to town.... This place has had its ups and downs over the years but it is worth visiting now, more than it has been for a while. Aside from the actual beach, which many people enjoy in the summer, there is a... Coney Island is changing and for the better. It still has some ways to go. It's fun to walk around beach still not the greatest beach but still a nice place to go for a day with the family. I am hoping it will continue changing for the better.
