Leaving Fairbanks early in the morning we flew with 4 other people on an 8 seater plane across the Brooks Range to Prudhoe Bay for refuelling, then along the Arctic coastline to Barter Island and Kaktovic, an Inupiat Eskimo village. As we flew into the Kaktovic airstrip we saw our first polar bear of the day right beside the airstrip!... More

I elected to do the fly-up/drive-down tour and it was awesome. The flight up was itself an adventure (I love rocky flights, so that was a fun part). The folks up there in Coldfoot were super cool and were great to chat with (especially Frannie and DRV, I mean Dave). Getting to see the moon rise near Wiseman, in -30F... More

Thank you Athena578 for taking the time to write a review and your recommendation. Yes, visitors travel for the geography of where they are and the nature (the spiritual experience you had with the moon at -30) but of course travel is also for the opportunity to meet the people along the way. So we are glad Frannie and DRV... More

Met warmly by Danny at the airport who took our lunch order, gave us the info on the trip, checked us in and walked us to the airplane. Two engine Cessna piloted by Caleb. Young fella, and we're old - but did a great job. Gave a good narrative all the way up to Coldfoot - beautiful views, probably more... More

Thank you Tasmandevil for your review. Very detailed. One update is on the plane. Those planes are Piper Navajo Chieftains -- but yes, twin engine planes with everyone having a window and an aisle seat. And yes, the reminder to other aurora visitors -- you can't give up. They can occur at any time - of course, the only time... More

We did the drive from Fairbanks to the Arctic Ocean early in January with Mike Fenno as our driver --- wonderful trip and Mike was a great host with his little added extras as we proceeded along out way. I would not advise anyone to take their own vehicle over these roads, nice to have someone else responsible for repairs.... More

Thank you Jody for taking the time to share notes about your travels with Mike. The guide can bring the region to life where if you were driving yourself you wouldn't have that information. Sometimes visitors prior to travelling ask what is there to see, isn't it all frozen? Not knowing that right below the surface may be ice or... More

We flew with the tour company to Deadhorse, stayed overnight after a tour of the area, then returned in the next two days to Fairbanks along the Dalton Highway and through Coldfoot. We also took in the side trip to the Eskimo Village. A very exciting trip looking at the Tundra, the mining operations, the trans-Alaska pipeline, meeting lots of... More

Thank you for joining us last summer. Sounds like you were on the Arctic Ocean Adventure with the optional flight to Anaktuvuk Pass. For those reading this review -- that is a 3 day / 2 night adventure during the summer months. Thank you Traveller4527 for taking the time to share your experience with others. Kathy More

Our family took the Arctic Circle Fly/Drive tour, flying out of Fairbanks to Coldfoot, and then returning by motor coach via the Dalton Highway. The trip started at the Northern Alaska Tour Company office at the airport in Fairbanks. There they verified passenger information, took orders for food to be delivered at Coldfoot and went over the itinerary for the... More

We went to Arctic Circle Winter Aurora Drive tour on 12/27. The tour was divided into two, arctic circle started from 10:00am to 11:00pm and aurora 11:00pm to 4:30am next day. Our knowledgeable guide, Robert, made the 13 hours drive to arctic circle felt like one hour trip. We gained a lot of knowledge about Alaska and Trans-Alaska Pipeline. He... More

A wonderful fly/ drive Arctic Circle tour. The tour group was small (about 12 pax) with hardworking informative tour guides. Had 1 pilot/ guide and 3 different drivers/ guide for this 15 hours trip.
