Wow, what a great time. This was a great experience, Jay the announcer was very informative and this was a beautiful way to see and experience what went into making Alaska what it is. The staff was great and the scenery incredible. This was probably the the best and most interesting tour I have experienced in Alaska. Thanks for a... More

This was an add-on to our cruise tour and we opted to do this and spend the extra night in Fairbanks before going home. A mistake. We had seen a great deal of Native Alaskan museums, displays, etc. etc. Likewise sledding, Iditarod and float planes. The meal reminded me of boot camp-we were herded into a very large dining area... I am local to North Pole and native to Wasilla and I enjoyed every bit of this trip! We took the 9am boat, Discovery 3, and were offered delicious donuts and coffee to enjoy right off the bat. I was pleasantly surprised that when I checked in at the gift shop for the boat I was turned away from the... More

Very informative trip, learned a lot about the region. The stop at the village was full of information of what was done in the early days, what they ate and the animals they trapped. There is a very large gift shop to visit when your cruise is over that has some unusual things as well as t-shirts. The meal that... More

This was one of the hi lites of our trip. The 3 hr cruise takes you past Iditarod champion Susan Butcher's home in Fairbanks . Although she has passed away, her husband and family maintain the kennels along the river. The boat stops at their place for a talk and demonstration of dog sledding, etc. The get-off-the-boat stop is at... More

We took the Riverboat Discovery Tour as an anniversary gift to ourselves. We live in the Fairbanks area and always said, "we don't need to do that; it's just for tourists." Well, we were wrong. We are so glad we did this. The views were absolutely amazing. They take you to where the Chena River and Tanana River merge, and... More

I did not want to do this but went reluctantly. So much information what a learning excursion. So glad I decided to go.

This was really a great way to spend a morning. The Riverboat is large, nicely maintained and clean. The narrator was very knowledgeable and one could hear well from any level. The stops at the Chena Village and to see sled dogs were a real plus. Food is available for purchase and there is a very nice gift shop on... More

The group of us enjoyed this tour very much. We cruised down the river watching a plane take off, Susan Butcher's kennel where the dogs are trained and taken care of, place where they dry the salmon along with other informative activities on land. Free coffee was provided and blueberry donuts and a sampling of a salmon dip. The homes... More

This was part of a land tour we booked through a cruise line. The gift shop is large and worth browsing. The 40 below room was a hit with our kids (and adults!). The river cruise is quite pleasant and scenic. You witness a bush pilot taking off and landing a plane. The recreated Athabascan Indian village is informative and... More
