This three-hour cruise will take you into the heart of Alaska and introduce you to a family who has made the rivers of Alaska a way of life for five generations. You will see a bush floatplane takeoff alongside the boat, visit the home and kennels of the late four-time Iditarod winner Susan Butcher and see her champion sled dogs in action. Be immersed into the ancient Athabascan Indian culture when our Alaskan Native Guides take you on a personalized tour of the Chena Indian Village.

Was better than expected. Watched the float plan landing and dog sled display. That was interested. The Athabaskian Indian Village was good. The stew for lunch was very good also. Glad we went on this excursion. If we get to go to Alaska again, I would like to skip Fairbanks and spend more time in Denali and at Mt Mckinley.

A Journy on the Sternwheeler Riverboat is a must. It starts as a leisurly river cruise stopping to watch float plane landing and take off as well as a dog slede display. The stop a the cultural village is informative, the guides are young native alaskan students and their talkes were both informative and entertaining. Great morning tour.

We enjoyed the Riverboat Discovery trip. It was nice, but not great. The dogsled demo was interesting and the Indian village visit was very informative. Would skip Fairbanks on our next trip and spend more time in Denali.

We drive to the river. Large complex on shore, first we were given stew for lunch on shore then a river cruise on a paddle wheeler carrying several hundred passengers. There was a commentator on the boat and there were various events happening on the banks as we passed. Dog kennels with demonstration of dogs pulling an all terrain vehicle... More

We enjoyed our boat ride. Saw a float plane flyover, the Butcher sled dogs, a tour of an Indian lifestyle and beautiful scenery. Nice way to spend a couple of hours.

A ride on the Riverboat is wonderful in the summer, especially if the sun is shinning, you see a part of Fairbanks that you can only see from the water and the trip is very informative about the history of Fairbanks. In addition the gift shop at landing is filled is great stuff to take home. Put this on your... More

If Disney ran a riverboat tour in Fairbanks, this would be it, complete with the largest gift shop in Alaska. If you know that going in, it's actually kind of hokey fun and you will actually learn a bit too. The free donuts on board are actually a nice touch.

We went on this paddlewheel boat trip on a river in Fairbanks (it was included in our trip so we had no choice). It sounds pretty good on the web page, and some people probably actually liked it, but my wife and I hated it. They bused us over there and dropped us captive into their gift shop with nothing... It was nice trip down the river with some interesting stops. Most enjoyable for me was stop at dog sledding camp. They also have a water plane demonstration which was one the highlights
