Owner description: Friendly huskies year round! Join us this summer for our Summer Sled Dog Adventure! Aurora viewing September through April. Sirius Sled Dogs is located near the top Of Murphy Dome about 25 miles northwest of Fairbanks. It's a beautiful scenic drive culminating in what we believe to be the best of Alaska. Discover off the grid living at our cabin on Lincoln Ridge. An expansive view of Denali and the Alaska range are visible to the south. Murphy Dome is visible to the north where the Aurora often rises as each night falls in winter.

My trip to Fairbanks was primarily to see the Northern Lights. While booking a tour with Ronn Murray Photography (which is a must-do, by the way), I found Nita and Sirius Sled Dogs (SSD). SSD is the site of the Alaska Aurora Cam, which is a live feed camera atop Murphy Dome to view the Lights. Originally, I booked a... More

Sirius Sled Dogs started our journey into the sled dog world! We had a blast riding the cart tour and learning about all the sled dogs. Nita taught us all about the different breeds of dogs, the types of sleds, and made sure we had a great time! I would definitely recommend taking this tour while your in Fairbanks! You... More

We spent a great night waiting for Aurora to appear (it didn't) but had a totally memorable time with Nita and Josh and the 18 sled dogs. They are a fun loving couple who made us feel very welcome and we had great conversation swapping stories. If you are a dog lover spending an evening meeting them all in groups... More

I don't know which was more fun, visiting with Anita and her dogs or seeing the Aurora! We love animals so we wanted an experience that allowed us to interact with the dogs. Everyone was very friendly. We were able to meet all the dogs and interact with them while we were waiting for the Aurora. It was a great... More

In Fairbanks for five days to view the Aurora Borealis, I decided to spend some of my free time during the day at a dog mushing school. I was picked up by Anita at my hotel at 1pm for the 40 minute drive north of Fairbanks on the road up to Murphy Dome to their cabin. On arrival I was... More

This is an out of the way attraction but well worth the effort. The owners were very friendly and explained everythin you would ever want to know about dog sledding. The dogs were very well behaved and loved all the attention they got from the visitors to their home, when they were harnessed up to pull they were ready to... More

My husband and I took part in the mushing school and weren't entirely sure what to expect. It was some of the most fun we have ever had! We loved learning about the dogs and the sport and lifestyle. The tandem sleds were great as they allowed us to feel comfortable with what being pulled through the woods on a... More

Fascinating visit with owners that truly love their sled dogs. Very interactive, hands on, ask any question type of visit. I felt it was an authentic glimpse of everyday independent Alaskan life, recreational dog sled use, and it's heritage. The dogs (and owners!) were accessible and super friendly. Because it was a sunny, summer day, the sled ride was brief... More

The Sirius Sled Dog adventure was the highlight of our Alaska trip! Not knowing what to expect, this venture far exceeded our expectations! Nita and Josh took us into their cabin, fed us wonderful home-cooked meals(coconut custard dessert) and let us help with any chores we wanted to. Of course, for the Kelly family, we jumped right in with feeding/harnessing/... More
