I booked this tour as it checked two of my "wanna do" boxes: a nighttime dog sled ride and away from the lights of Fairbanks Aurora viewing. Daniel (his Americanized name), the van driver, picked me up at my hotel right on time. He's a native tribe-member from Barrow and was SO knowledgeable, articulate and professional. We drove icy roads... More

Booked the 2 day tour with salmon berry and our 1st day was the trip to arctic circle and the northern lights. Excluding the long 5 hour drive, the Arctic circle view was breath taking. Carole was our guide for this tour. She was very cordial. Told us many interesting stories on our way. We also did manage to see... More

We went on two aurora viewing tours and the photo workshop tour. We didn't see anything the first night, but not for lack of trying. Our guide, Joseph, kept looking and kept the van warm for us! Cori was our guide for the photo workshop. She set the settings on my camera and explained everything she did. She helped with... More

I booked the arctic circle tour very last minute but I really enjoyed it! Tom, our guide, was really nice, friendly and told many funny stories about the people in Alaska. The food was good: 2 sandwiches, chips, chocolate bars and water. We made a few stops along the way: pipeline, finger mountain, which we hiked about 2 miles round-trip... More

My wife and I wanted to make the most of our three days in Fairbanks. 1st Alaska was recommended by our hotel. I worked with Kasey to coordinate the timing of our tours built around three nights of northern light experiences. The first night was the photo tour with Cori to make sure that we could get the best pictures... More

Me and my wife were in Fairbanks towards the end of Feb and had planned chena hot springs tour on first night. Chena tour began with all the doubt in the world not just about seeing aurora but also about making it to the hot springs itself! All because it was so snowy and stormy that day. First thing our... Everything ocurred as planed. Drivers and guide tours were at hotel right on time. Lunch and dinner were provided for the Artic Circle Tour. Very attencious guide tours on both tours I took. The best thing for me was that I was traveling by myself and this company was the only company that accepted me as single traveler. They always... More

I booked three trips with 1st Outdoor School. First, the booking process was slow and communication with the office was a challenge. I questioned if they even wanted my business. They prefer group travels rather than single. For two of the three trips, the driver/guide were simply doing their job--pick up,drive to site, return to drop-off. Very little communication and... I am extremely sorry for the booking problem you experienced. Your booking was first handled by a trainee. In our communications we apologized for the hick up and when you called in to share the amazing pictures of northern lights you made during our tours we where convinced you are happy and leave Alaska with good memories. Again, I can... More

We had the good fortune to have the best guide for our tour, his name is Dan! His goal was to make every effort for us to be able to get the best view of the Northern Lights. If it wasn't for his detour we would perhaps missed part of the show that the lights put on that night. The... More
